The reason why I don't just float from pool to pool with ear buds in is this: Here is an autofill with a worn gasket at a pool I just picked up. The previous pool service incorrectly diagnosed the salt system as being faulty. When they couldn't sell the owner a new salt system, despie the current being under warranty, they made him install an inline chlorinator to try and keep chlorine in the pool. If they had just listened, they would have heard the autofill going. An accurate water test would have also revealed low calcium, cya, salt and TDS which all point to excessive water addition. Autofill is fixed, salt system is working and the customer is happy.

For anyone that is currently having a pool built and you're on well water. I highly recommend getting a Fillfast Premier water filter from Periodic. It will remove the metals from the water that your builder is using to mix your plaster. I have come across four instances this year of badly stained new plaster pools. The builders are not prepared to do anything to help. Also familiarize yourself with the pool startup procedure outlined by the National Plaster council so you can ensure that it is being carried out properly by your builder. If it's not done correctly you will have to wear socks to stop your feet from getting cut up from the rough surface on your pool.
