Some people go to yard sales looking for bargains. Before purchasing items at yard sales it is very important to inspect them for the presence of bed bugs. Bed bugs can be found in electronics, clothing, furniture, luggage, boxes, bags and many other places. Keep in mind furniture is more difficult to inspect, especially sofas and chairs.
When inspecting look for black streaks, tiny black droppings, brown blood staining, tiny white eggs, shed insect skins, or the presence of bed bugs.
When you take your purchased items home, thoroughly inspect again before taking the items in your home. Wash and dry any clothing you purchase on the hottest temperature and wash all other items, as well.
If you bring bed bugs in to your home, unfortunately the bargain you found at the yard sale won’t be a bargain if you have to pay for a bed bug treatment.

• Some queen ants can live for many years and have millions of babies.

• When the queen dies the colony can not survive long, the queen is the only member of the ant colony that is able to reproduce.

The paper wasp is the most common wasp in Missouri. The wasp is not considered aggressive, but if it feels threatened it may sting. Wolf spiders are big and hairy and many are afraid of the spiders. They are not considered to be a dangerous spider, usually the spider only bites if it is provoked. Some people are allergic to the bite, but the spider is not poisonous. Unlike most spiders they don’t use a web to hunt, they chase their prey using their fast running ability.
