I debated on posting this, but with yet another cleaning company doing people wrong coming to light, I thought it was important to share. This Is now TWO different cleaning companies and it gives us honest cleaners a bad rep!
Honesty matters in this business. Cleaning isn’t about being perfect every single time, we are human. It’s about integrity, accountability, and respect for the people who trust you in their homes.
Recently, I received a call from a client saying a cleaner had come in, but it appeared as though nothing had been done. Out of respect for the client, I won’t share names, details, or photos, she asked that her privacy be protected.
However, it was very apparent that the work promised wasn’t completed. The kitchen hadn’t been touched. The oven wasn’t cleaned. Floors still had sticky residue. Bathrooms weren’t cleaned. Vanity drawers had hair in them, fingerprints and smudge marks were left on the outside, and the sink still had toothpaste.
Situations like this are disappointing, but they’re also a reminder of why standards matter. Life happens, and sometimes rescheduling has to happen. Emergencies come up. That’s human. But ripping people off their money, not doing the job that was agreed upon, not showing up with no notice, or leaving in the middle of a job without communication is not okay.
When something goes wrong, it’s the business owner’s responsibility to own it and make it right in one form or another. I’m not perfect, and I won’t lie, I’ve had a couple of clients who weren’t happy. That comes with running a business. What matters is that I still made it right with those clients.
Word of mouth goes a long way, and I believe in being transparent. Sometimes people go through a few cleaners before they find the right fit and that’s okay. Not everyone is going to vibe, and that doesn’t mean anyone did something wrong, but to intentionally not do the things listed above, truly do give us honest cleaing Business owners a bad rep! We’re not all like that.
That’s why I always ask clients to do a walkthrough and really look things over. If they can’t while we’re there and something is missed, I will always make it right with them, no excuses, no runaround. Trust is earned through honesty, consistency, and how you show up when things don’t go perfectly.
At the end of the day, mistakes happen. What defines a cleaning business isn’t whether a mistake is made, but how it’s handled afterward.
