🚿 Before & After: Shower Transformation

This shower looked fine on the surface, but underneath it was a disaster waiting to happen. The floor wasn’t pitched correctly, so water pooled instead of draining. That caused grout to crumble and pebble stones to pop loose. On top of that, the floor wasn’t sealed at all — leaving it vulnerable to water damage.

What started as a simple floor remodel quickly revealed much bigger issues:
• The walls were unstable due to poor framing.
• Tiles had been set without proper adhesion, leaving them loose and hollow.
• Cracking grout and improper materials made the entire shower unsafe.

Thankfully, we caught these problems before major water damage set in.

We completely reframed and rebuilt the shower the right way:
• Properly pitched and sealed floor to prevent pooling water.
• Solid wall framing for long-term stability.
• Tiles installed with professional methods and materials.

Our guys worked really hard on this one. This home owner had a pebble rock floor which often have problems when not installed correctly. The shower floor was pooling water and they were worried it was going to cause problems so they got ahead of it. They were right because the shower pan had already disintegrated to sand. They pick a really cool large format tile that is hard to install in tight spaces like this but we figured it out. Call us today if you want a new shower floor or for any and all tile needs. What a fun project! Remodeling old homes like this one is always a fun way to test our guys skills. The house was made in 1875 and we removed several layers of floors and walls that other contractors put in place. The clients picked a classic black and white design with two very cool ceramic tile choices for the floor and walls. If you have an old Philly bathroom you want updated give us a call! Here we had a shower floor in Kensington Philadelphia where a home owner had a leak through his drain. This shower floor had layers and layers of bad-aid patch jobs. We removed 2 other shower floors under the tile. We re-configured the drain to stop the leak and then laid a proper wet bed tile floor with a new shower pan!
