Most people in Michigan don’t realize this… but we DO have termites.

Specifically, Eastern Subterranean Termites — and they cause millions of dollars in damage every year because they work silently behind the scenes.

Picture #1:
These are live subterranean termites feeding inside one of our Sentricon bait stations. This is exactly what we WANT to see during monitoring. The termites find the station before they find more of your home.

Picture #2:
Those ā€œmud tubesā€ hanging from the ceiling are one of the biggest warning signs of termite activity. Subterranean termites build these tubes to travel while staying protected from open air and dehydration.

Here’s the scary part:
Termites often cause damage for YEARS before homeowners notice them. By the time you see damage, the colony may already be well established.

Common signs of termites in Michigan:
• Mud tubes on walls, ceilings, foundations, or joists
• Soft or hollow sounding wood
• Bubbling or damaged paint
• Swarming termites in spring
• Doors/windows suddenly sticking
• Unexplained wood damage

And no — termites are NOT just a ā€œsouthern stateā€ problem. We see them right here in Metro Detroit and Downriver every year.

If you’re buying a home, noticing suspicious damage, or just want peace of mind, it’s better to catch termite activity early before repairs become expensive.

CALL TODAY 313-381-1877
As temperatures rise here in Michigan, ants wake up and start searching for food, water, and shelter. That means your home becomes a target—especially kitchens, bathrooms, and foundation cracks. You’re not just seeing ā€œa few ants.ā€ You’re seeing scouts. And where there are scouts… a colony isn’t far behind.
āš ļø 3 Reasons Pest Control Matters
1. Small problem → Big infestation
Ants leave scent trails. Once they find food, hundreds follow. What starts as 5 ants can turn into hundreds fast.
2. Some ants cause real damage
Species like carpenter ants don’t just invade—they tunnel through wood, weakening parts of your home over time.
3. DIY rarely solves the root problem
Store-bought sprays kill what you see, not the colony. Without targeting the source, the problem keeps coming back.
Spring ants are predictable—and preventable. Early treatment stops infestations before they get out of control.
If you're seeing ants now, you’re already behind the curve.

When Do Raccoons Open Their Eyes? A Tiny Milestone with Big Meaning

Baby raccoons are born completely helpless blind, deaf, and totally dependent on their mother. One of the most fascinating early developments is when their eyes finally open.

Raccoon kits typically open their eyes around 21 days after birth. Before this point, they rely entirely on touch and smell to find warmth and their mother.

Opening their eyes marks a major step in their development. It’s the beginning of:

* Recognizing their surroundings
* Interacting with siblings
* Becoming more aware of potential dangers

Even after their eyes open, baby raccoons stay in the den for at least another month. They won’t start exploring outside until they’re about 8 weeks old, and they continue learning survival skills from their mother for months.

Fun Fact: Even as babies, raccoons are naturally inclined toward nighttime activity since they are nocturnal so their vision develops with low-light environments in mind.

Nature has a remarkable timeline, and something as simple as opening their eyes plays a huge role in a raccoon’s journey to independence.
