I usually joke around about shops inviting people in just to look at someone else’s car… but today was different.
As most of you know, Candice and I help run and coach with the Brooks Buccaneers youth football organization. We have a special kid named Ben who’s been with us for the last two years. Ben has autism, and he’s one of the sweetest kids you’ll ever meet. His knowledge of supercars and exotics is absolutely unreal for an 11-year-old.
For the past two years, I’ve been telling Ben that the next time an exotic came into the shop, I’d make sure he got to see it. Before doing anything, I reached out to the owner, Mike, and got his blessing. Today we were finally able to make it happen.
The second Ben laid eyes on that McLaren, his smile stretched from ear to ear. Watching how excited he was reminded me that sometimes it’s the little things that leave the biggest impact. I’d be lying if I said it didn’t make my day too.
Mike, thank you for trusting us and for helping create a memory Ben won’t forget anytime soon. You probably have no idea just how much that simple gesture meant to him… and to me.
These are the moments that matter.
