Mill Bergen Pools has built and serviced pools across Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the surrounding areas since the 1980s, long before city pools became as common as they are today.

That experience taught us to work in tight lots, navigate difficult access, and manage the permitting challenges of building in New York.

It still shapes the way our team approaches every project today, with careful planning, practical problem-solving, and a clear understanding of what city properties require.

Happy first day of fall!

A few warm afternoons may still be ahead, but cooler nights aren't far behind. If your pool is still open, now is the time to get your closing on the calendar.

A proper closing prepares your pool for the months ahead by winterizing the plumbing, draining and protecting equipment, adjusting the water level and chemistry, and securing the pool for winter.

Enjoy those last swims while the weather cooperates.

When you’re ready to close for the season, our service team is here to make sure your pool is properly prepared for the cold: https://www.millbergenpools.com/brooklyn-pool-builder-queens-custom-pools/service/

Indoor pool lighting has a bigger impact than most people realize. On a gray November afternoon, the right lighting can make the space feel warm, calm, and intentional instead of dark or enclosed.

Fixture placement, color temperature, and the way light reflects off the water all shape the experience. In an indoor pool, those choices matter even more because the lighting has to work with the architecture, not compete with it.

Thoughtful lighting for indoor pools can make the space feel more inviting year-round and give you a reason to use it well beyond summer.

The nights are getting cooler, even when the days still feel like summer, and your pool is already responding to the change.

Cooler nighttime temperatures can slow chlorine activity, giving algae more opportunity to develop than it had during the hottest part of the season. That shift can happen before the water looks obviously different, which is why a chemistry check now can save you from a much bigger cleanup later.

If your water has been looking a little off, or you just want peace of mind heading into the end of the season, our team can come out, take a look, and make sure everything is where it should be.

The finish inside a pool influences far more than its appearance. It affects the water's color and character, the feel underfoot, and how the surface performs over time.

Pebble finishes have a natural, textured appearance and interact beautifully with light. They are also known for their durability, though consistent water chemistry is important to keep the surface looking its best.

Glass tile creates a more reflective, distinctive look and can have a dramatic visual impact. It is a higher investment and requires experienced installation to achieve the level of finish it deserves.

Quartz plaster offers a smooth, durable surface with a wide range of possibilities. Depending on the finish, pool depth, and surrounding light, the water can take on shades ranging from rich blue to teal. Darker plaster can create a striking, mirror-like effect, although calcium buildup tends to be more noticeable than it is on lighter surfaces.

The right finish should complement the pool's design, the surrounding property, and how the space will be used.

Twenty-five years ago, our city faced its darkest day, and its people showed up for each other in ways we'll never forget.

New York's strength has always come from its neighborhoods, its first responders, and communities like ours who show up for one another.

Today, we're honoring the heroes and lives lost as well as the city we're proud to call home.

Labor Day usually brings the first big wave of pool-closing questions, but the calendar is only part of the decision.

If the weather is still warm, there may be more pool days left to enjoy. What matters is closing the pool at the right time and making sure the lines, equipment, and water chemistry are properly prepared for a New York winter.

A careful closing can help prevent cracked pipes, equipment damage, and expensive surprises when spring rolls around.

So enjoy those last warm weekends. When your pool is ready for the season to end, we're here to close it properly!

Labor Day weekend is usually one of the busiest weekends of the year for a pool, and the water feels it.

Extra people in the pool, long hours in the sun, and late-summer heat can change your pool's chemistry faster than you expect.

These simple steps can help keep your pool clear, balanced, and ready for a few more good weekends before summer winds down.

The features you choose for your pool have a big impact on how you’ll actually use it.

A tanning ledge creates a comfortable place to relax without leaving the water. Built-in seating makes it easier to gather while preserving valuable deck space. For properties with the right layout, features like a swim-up bar can make the pool an even bigger part of at-home entertaining.

Especially in Brooklyn and Manhattan, where space often comes at a premium, every detail should have a purpose.

We design around your property and the way you want to enjoy it, so every square foot works for you.

We’re not rushing summer out the door, but Labor Day is a good reminder that pool closing season will be here before we know it.

Scheduling your closing ahead of time gives you one less thing to worry about when the cooler weather arrives. A proper winterization also helps protect your pool and equipment through the colder months, so you’re in a better position when it’s time to open again next spring.

Keep enjoying those last summer swims. We’ll take care of what comes next.
