How Dunne Cleaning Specialists Cleans Area Rugs in Our Plant
When it comes to cleaning area rugs, where a rug is cleaned matters. At Dunne Cleaning Specialists Inc., we clean many area rugs at our professional rug cleaning facility because our plant allows us to control the cleaning and drying process while giving each rug the individual attention it deserves.
Dunne Cleaning Specialists has been family owned and operated by three generations since 1969. With more than 50 years of experience, we specialize in Oriental rug cleaning and the cleaning of rugs from around the world.
Every rug is different, and we believe every rug should be cleaned according to its individual needs—not treated with a one-size-fits-all cleaning method.
Why Clean Area Rugs in Our Plant?
Cleaning an area rug in our facility gives us several important advantages.
First, we can control the drying environment. Proper drying is an important part of professional rug cleaning, and our facility allows us to carefully manage the process.
Second, our plant gives us access to modern rug washing equipment that is not available in a typical home. This equipment allows us to provide a deeper, more controlled cleaning for many types of area rugs.
Our facility also gives us the space and equipment necessary to properly inspect, dust, wash, extract, and dry rugs.
Every Rug Is Inspected Before Cleaning
Before we clean your rug, we inspect it carefully and develop a cleaning plan specifically for that rug.
Many factors go into determining the proper cleaning method, including the rug's:
Fiber
Construction
Origin
Condition
Age
Type of dyes
Previous cleaning history
Staining and soil conditions
Pet damage or odors
But the number one consideration is always safety.
Dye Stability Testing
Rugs come to us from all over the world, and they should not all be cleaned the same way.
Before cleaning, we test rugs for dye stability. This helps us determine the safest cleaning approach and whether special procedures are necessary.
Our experience has taught us that understanding the rug before cleaning it is essential. Our systems and more than 50 years of experience are our teachers.
Dusting Comes Before Washing
Before most rugs are washed, they go through a dusting procedure to remove dry soil.
Area rugs can hold a surprising amount of dry particulate soil deep within their fibers. Removing as much dry soil as possible before washing is an important part of our rug cleaning process.
Once the rug has been properly inspected, tested, and dusted, we determine the appropriate cleaning method.
Modern Rug Washing Equipment
Most rugs that are suitable for machine washing are cleaned in our modern rug washing machine.
Our equipment allows us to thoroughly clean many types of area rugs in a controlled facility rather than attempting to clean them in a customer's home.
However, not every rug should be treated the same way.
Some rugs require hand cleaning. Depending on the construction, fibers, dyes, condition, or other characteristics of the rug, we may choose a more specialized hand-cleaning process.
The goal is not simply to clean the rug—it is to clean it as safely and appropriately as possible.
Professional Rug Drying With a Centrifuge
After cleaning, most rugs are dried using our centrifuge.
Professional extraction and controlled drying are important parts of the rug cleaning process. Our facility allows us to manage the drying process rather than leaving the rug to dry under uncontrolled conditions.
Controlling the drying process is another reason we prefer to clean many area rugs at our plant.
Oriental Rug Cleaning Specialists
Dunne Cleaning Specialists specializes in Oriental rug cleaning. Oriental rugs can be made from different fibers, constructed in different ways, and colored with different types of dyes.
Because of these differences, Oriental rugs should not automatically be cleaned using the same process as every other area rug.
Our technicians inspect each rug and determine an appropriate cleaning plan based on the individual rug.
We clean rugs from all around the world, and our experience with different types of rugs helps us determine the safest and most appropriate cleaning system for each one.
Pet Damage and Deodorization
Rugs that have experienced pet damage may require additional treatment.
Pet urine and other pet-related odors can require specialized deodorization. When deodorization is necessary, it is available at an additional charge.
We will evaluate the rug and let you know when special services are needed.
How Long Do You Keep My Rug?
Under normal circumstances, we usually have your rugs for approximately 10–14 days, provided they do not require special services, repairs, extensive treatment, or other additional work.
The exact turnaround time can vary depending on the rug and the services required.
