It’s important to make sure your property is safe
Our company checks and replaces dual units for both carbon monoxide and smoke alarms where needed in the home. Believe it or not there are places you do not want to have detectors.

🚫 Don’t Put Smoke Detectors:

* Right next to kitchens
Keep at least 10 feet away from stoves/ovens to avoid cooking smoke false alarms.
* Bathrooms or near showers
Steam and humidity can trigger alarms.
* Near heating/cooling vents or ceiling fans
Airflow can keep smoke from reaching the detector.
* Near windows or exterior doors
Drafts can affect detection.
* In very dusty, dirty, or greasy areas
Like garages, workshops, or unfinished crawl spaces unless the detector is rated for it.
* Too close to light fixtures
Heat can affect the sensor.

🚫 Don’t Put Carbon Monoxide Detectors:

* Directly above or beside fuel-burning appliances
(furnaces, water heaters, fireplaces) — keep about 15–20 feet away if possible.
* Garages
Vehicle exhaust can cause nuisance alarms.
* Near windows, vents, or fans
Fresh airflow can prevent CO from reaching the detector.
* In humid areas
Bathrooms, laundry rooms, or near humidifiers.
* In direct sunlight or extreme temperatures
Avoid attics or unheated garages.
