The Simple Formula for a Happier Life

If you want to be happier, start by changing three things: your expectations of others, your responsibility for your life, and your gratitude for what you already have.

1. Stop expecting others to make you happy.

Not everyone will love you the way you love them, treat you the way you treat them, or appreciate what you bring into their lives. People will disappoint you, misunderstand you, and sometimes walk away when you need them most.

Appreciate those who show up for you, but never make your happiness dependent on someone else's actions. The fewer expectations you place on others, the less power you give them over your peace.

2. Take responsibility for your life.

You cannot control everything that happens to you, but you can control how you respond. Stop waiting for someone to rescue you, motivate you, or give you permission to change your life.

Learn from your mistakes, own your decisions, establish boundaries, and take action toward the future you want. Taking responsibility does not mean blaming yourself for everything. It means focusing on what you can change instead of remaining trapped in what you cannot control.

3. Be grateful for what you have.

There will always be someone with more money, greater success, or a seemingly better life. If you constantly compare yourself to others, you will never feel like you have enough.

Be ambitious, but do not let ambition blind you to your blessings. You can want more for your future while appreciating what you have today.

Happiness is not about having everything you want. It is about appreciating what you have, accepting what you cannot change, and taking action where you can make a difference.

Expect less from people, take ownership of your choices, and appreciate more of your life. Peace often begins when you stop waiting for the world to change and start changing what is within your control.

"If you want to be happy, have zero expectations of others, take 100% responsibility for your life, and be grateful for what you have."

A little reminder about pricing when hiring a professional cleaning company

I completely understand that everyone has a budget, and I will always respect that. But there is a BIG difference between paying someone who cleans on the side and hiring a legitimate, licensed and insured cleaning business.

When you pay my business, you aren’t simply paying for the hours I’m physically inside your home. You’re paying for the cleaning itself AND the supplies, equipment, gas, insurance, licensing, taxes, bookkeeping, advertising, vehicle expenses, administrative time, and all of the other costs that come with running a legitimate business.

So when someone looks at a $180 - $350 for a maintenance cleaning and thinks, “They’re only there for 2-3 hours, so they’re making $75-$150 an hour,” that’s not actually how it works. That is business revenue, not my personal take home pay. A large portion of that goes right back into operating the business.

I also have service agreements in place for a reason. My clients agree to the pricing, scope of work, time limits, policies, and expectations before services begin. If the cleaning is completed before the maximum allotted time, that does not mean you can now add more stuff for the cleaner to do. The cleaner has completed the agreed upon service already, If you want to add you will pay for the additional items.

And yes, there will always be someone willing to do it cheaper. You may find someone who isn’t licensed or insured and is simply doing cleaning as a side hustle. That’s completely your choice, and I genuinely understand that everyone has to choose what fits their budget.

But I also have to choose what makes sense for my business.

I’m not going to underprice my services just to keep a client if doing so means I’m covering expenses out of my own pocket or working for no profit. Profit isn’t greed. Profit is what allows a business to stay open.

I appreciate every client who understands the value of hiring a professional, respects my pricing and policies, and supports my small business. Those are the clients I’m grateful to have. 🫶🏼

Know your worth. Know your numbers. And don’t be afraid to stand behind your pricing.
