⚠️ WEATHER ALERT | SEVERE STORMS EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON & EVENING ⚠️
The National Weather Service is forecasting the potential for multiple rounds of severe thunderstorms to impact Beach Haven and the surrounding region from late this morning through tonight. Today’s storms may produce:
🌪️ Damaging wind gusts
🌪️ Tornadoes (including the potential for a strong EF2 tornado)
🌧️ Torrential rainfall with flash flooding
🧊 Large hail
⚡ Frequent and dangerous lightning
The greatest threat is expected between Noon and Midnight, with a Flash Flood Watch in effect from 10:00 AM through 2:00 AM. Rainfall rates of 2-3 inches per hour are possible in the strongest storms. 
If you’re visiting Beach Haven today:
🏖️ Leave the beach immediately if thunder is heard or skies begin to darken. Lightning can strike several miles from a storm.
🌊 Stay out of the ocean. Dangerous surf and rapidly changing weather can create hazardous conditions for swimmers, surfers, paddleboarders, and boaters.
Everyone should prepare now:
✅ Secure patio furniture, umbrellas, trash cans, tents, and other loose outdoor items before storms arrive.
✅ If you’re staying in a rental, bring in anything that could become airborne in strong winds.
✅ Charge cell phones and electronic devices in case of power outages.
✅ Make sure you have a way to receive emergency weather warnings.
Flooding Safety
🚗 Move vehicles out of areas that frequently flood, especially streets near the bay, low-lying parking areas, and locations with poor drainage.
🚫 Never drive through flooded roadways. Just a small amount of moving water can sweep a vehicle away, and you may not be able to see hazards beneath the water.
🚶 Do not walk through floodwaters.
During the Storm
🏠 If a Severe Thunderstorm Warning or Tornado Warning is issued, move indoors immediately. Stay away from windows and seek shelter in the lowest level of a sturdy building.
⚠️ If you are staying in a rental or hotel, know where the safest interior room or hallway is before storms arrive.
