Rug repair isn’t just cosmetic. Sometimes it’s necessary.

This rug came in with visible edge damage, but the real issue was hiding underneath.

Moth infestation.

Eggs and larvae were embedded in the backing and edge binding. Leaving that section in place would’ve meant one thing: the damage would keep spreading.

So we did the right thing:

• Removed the compromised section completely
• Treated the area to stop further infestation
• Rebuilt the edge with clean, stable materials
• Refinished it to match the original look and structure

The result?

A rug that’s safe and ready for years of use not just “patched up.”

This is why proper moth treatment matters.

Not all damage is visible!

If your rug has fraying, loose backing, or mysterious fiber loss… don’t ignore it.

🔍 This is NOT an ordinary stain

What you see in the photo is not dirt, mold, or everyday soiling.

👉 These marks come from a marker used during the furniture assembly or manufacturing process (alignment marks, seams, quality control). These inks are often hidden inside the upholstery layers and not visible at first.

⚠️ Why does it appear later?

This type of marking can surface:
• During professional cleaning
• During DIY cleaning
• When exposed to moisture, heat, or humidity

The cleaning process can cause the ink to wick or bleed through light-colored fabrics - even when proper methods are used.

❗ Important to understand:

• This is not caused by poor cleaning
• It’s not a contamination or hygiene issue
• It’s extremely difficult to detect beforehand
• It’s one of the hardest stains to remove, even with advanced techniques

In some cases, it can be improved - but full removal is not always guaranteed due to how deeply the ink penetrates the fabric structure.
