Tip day is here š¤
This weeks tip is simple and doesnāt take much effort š
For the time being, I unfortunately have showers/tubs that require shower curtains. So this post will be more so directed towards anyone else who is in same boat.
I cannot stand for my house to smell bad for any reason in any way. Iām sure you guys know the smell Iām talking about that can develop in your bathroom. Itās just a gross, musty smell and is most likely coming from your shower curtain, believe it or not.
So for starters you need to know to never buy a printed plastic shower curtain. They are difficult to clean and mold and mildew grow on them real quick like.
What you are going to buy is a fabric curtain, a plastic shower curtain liner and some double sided shower hooks. Iāll attach pictures.
Once a month (you need a once a month cleaning list and I do have those available to purchase), youāre going to change that plastic liner and wash the fabric shower curtain. The double sided hooks make it super easy to change the plastic liner and to take the fabric curtain down to wash.
I know that a lot of people wanna buy the more heavy duty plastic liners that are more costly, but they get nasty and smelly just as quick as the cheaper ones and they are just not easy to clean honestly. The cheaper plastic liners are anywhere from a buck fifty to $3 and worth it to not have to mess with cleaning a liner. At the end of the month, you take it down, trash it and replace it.
Washing the fabric curtain is also easy. Toss it in the washer. Add some detergent, a pod, fabric softener, some scent beads⦠just whatever you wanna add and wash it on gentle/delicate cycle and dry it on low heat (it takes no time to dry). It will smell so fresh and great when you get it out š¤
So thatās covers your monthly maintenance, but showers/tubs/curtain liners are going to get dirty and grimey throughout the month as well.
Depending on how often a shower/tub is used obviously depends on how often it needs scrubbed. The regular ole showers/tubs that are made out of fiberglass/acrylic/cast iron are going to show more of the filth and need cleaned more often than the newer stone showers. The stone hides more and all of the grossness doesnāt seem to stick to it as much š¤·š»āāļø I would personally suggest scrubbing the shower/tub once a week, but some can be done biweekly.
BUT in between those scrubbings a great way to freshen it up is to spray a scented cleaning spray on them.
I love the look and thought of Mrs. Meyers and I buy a lot of it, but sadly it isnāt antibacterial. So with that being said, I donāt necessarily use it to clean with, but I use it for the scent. I keep an updated seasonal bottle of the spray in each bathroom and the kitchen. Once a day, or whenever I think about it, I spray down the showers/tubs, liners and even my kitchen sinks with it and it makes the bathrooms or kitchen smell all nice and fresh š„° It takes no time and thereās no need for rinsing because it doesnāt really leave a residue, but when I shower, sometimes Iāll give it a quick spray down (which youāre going to need a detachable shower head for, all showers need a detachable head of some kind they just make things much easier). Not only does it help to give it a nice scent, but it also helps to keep some of the grime at bay. It also works great for tile showers/tubs, but I wouldnāt suggest spraying it on any glass because that will steam and leave residue.
I think that should wrap up this weeks tip! If you have any questions, feel free to comment or message me š
