Bison don't like thistle....it pokes their noses. This is an area frequented by Bison in Grand Teton National Park. The Bison will appreciate this area being w**d free even if they don't care for the UTVs spot spraying w**ds in their pasture adjacent to this site.

One of our projects near Jackson, WY. We use aquatic labeled herbicides to kill woody species and then cut and remove them at a later date to maintain the integrity of the levees along the Snake and Gros Ventre Rivers.

POSITION SUMMARY
This is a permanent seasonal career position for an individual looking to work in the forests and rangelands of the western US. As a noxious w**d control tech you will have the opportunity to work as part of a nomadic, energetic, productive, and collaborative team. The Noxious W**d Control Crew identifies, surveys for, and controls invasive plants, collects monitoring data and maintains ecological restoration projects in partnership with public land management agencies and NGO’s throughout the Western US. Primarily work will occur within Montana but travel to Idaho and Wyoming is common.
Technician will assist in noxious w**d management. Work performed outdoors takes place in a wide variety of terrain and settings including rugged back country locations and some water travel (boats/rafts). Work involves frequently lifting up to 75 pounds, and walking in all types of terrain. Work is performed in an environment which involves everyday risks or discomforts and sometimes adverse weather conditions requiring safety precautions. A considerable amount of driving in company vehicles is required. Individuals should be capable of working alone, or with other people, during early morning hours and during the day. A lot of work is performed within 300 miles of Missoula, MT, but travel is necessary to other parts of Montana, Idaho and Wyoming.

Employment Requirements: Ability to safely work with and around pesticides and operate spraying equipment (Backpack Sprayers and UTV/Truck Mounted Sprayers). Ability to recognize and identify w**ds on the State Noxious W**d List; Ability to calibrate herbicide spray equipment; Ability to perform math calculations for mixing herbicides. Use mobile and hand-held computers and Global Positioning System (GPS) units. Must work with hazardous materials, heavy equipment and occasionally boats, rafts, or amphibious watercraft. Must negotiate fences, hazardous steep terrain with rough, rocky or wet surfaces. Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate and maintain Heavy duty trucks and UTVs. Agricultural background or UTV/auto mechanical maintenance experience is highly preferred. Experience pulling trailers is desirable. Prior experience identifying w**ds and native plants and spraying w**ds is a plus. Experience operating GPS units, downloading data and knowledge of ArcGIS software also highly preferred. Willing to train the right individual in all aspects.

Position is seasonal and field season typically runs May 1st through October 31st, although some work may be performed in April and November. Start date and length of season is negotiable. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Compensation is $22.00 - $31.00 per hour. $20.00 per diem for travel days

Valid drivers license and ability to safely operate UTVs, Backpack Sprayers and Truck Mounted Sprayers. Agricultural background or UTV/auto mechanical maintenance experience is highly preferred. Experience pulling trailers is desirable. Prior experience identifying w**ds and native plants and spraying w**ds is a plus. Experience operating GPS units, downloading data, and knowledge of ArcGIS software also highly preferred. Base wage $18-$25/hr. DOE. 401K with company match after 12 months employment. Overtime is common and required. This job is subject to Contract Service Wage Act compensation of $15.86 / hour plus $4.60 health and benefits on Federal Projects. A large amount of work performed is for Federal Agencies. Position is seasonal and field season typically runs May 1st through October 31st, although some work may be performed in April and November. Start date and length of season is negotiable.
