This is part of a level II inspection, and shows why it's so important to have a certified chimney sweep inspect your fireplace and chimney. These are screws securing an offset that have penetrated the inner chimney, creating a potential fire hazard. This was found using an internal inspection camera, and is a standard part of every inspection. Please call Boehner and Sons, LLC at 706-431-0855 if you'd like an inspection.
