Traveling from Christiansburg to Pulaski, yesterday, and I saw First Responders on every overpass from the 118 to the 101. I'm lucky enough that I keep a camera with me for work purposes, and feel privileged to have been able to capture this moment.

Winter leaves more behind in your carpet than just salt.

Along with the grit and dirt that gets tracked in from outside, you also have to think about the fine particulate that settles into carpet over time. Dust is part of that equation, and where you have dust, you also have dust mites. Dust mite droppings are one of the most common indoor allergens.

I like to tell people that carpet behaves a lot like the filter in an HVAC system. It holds onto particulate that settles there, instead of letting it get stirred back up into the air as easily as it would on a hard surface floor.

That’s actually a good thing for Indoor Air Quality…as long as the carpet gets cleaned.

A carpet that is doing its job still needs to be emptied out from time to time.

Stone surfaces rarely “fail” all at once.

Marble can develop etching. Granite can lose clarity. Textured stone can hold onto residue in its surface. And sometimes, well-intentioned use of store-bought products that don’t fit the situation can make those issues more noticeable.

Stone restoration works best when it follows the right order:

Correct → Protect → Maintain

Address the surface first. Then protect it appropriately. Then maintain it consistently.

There is no judgement, there is only clean.

This is where craftsmanship shows.
