It was a pleasure restoring the paint on this stunning Mustang Saleen. The previous owner unknowingly damaged the finish by taking it to an automatic car wash every week. We had the pleasure of working on this Mach 1, giving it the full treatment. Inside, we completed an “INTERIOR FOCUS” service, including Gyeon Leather ceramic coating for the leather. On the exterior, we performed a “CHASSIS DETAIL SERVICE” and an “ENGINE BAY DETAIL”. Rock chips were carefully filled and finished with factory-matched paint. This is one we detailed awhile back and wanted to share. This Wrangler received a complete overhaul. We started by rejuvenating the severely scratched and swirled paint with a “LEVEL 2 PAINT CORRECTION” and protected with FEYNLAB V3 CERAMIC COATING. The trim was restored and ceramic coated. DANGERS OF AUTOMATIC CAR WASHES

How An Auto Car Wash Creates Damage to Your Car’s Finish

Automatic car washes are easy and quick, but even the "brushless" ones can blast your car's paint with dirt and grit that will ruin your finish.

First, let’s talk about automatic car washes that use brushes or touch your car during the process. Unlike the “LUXURY STEAM WASH” service we offer all the cleaning tools are rarely maintained or replaced by the car wash. This means the wash tools these car washes use take dirt and contamination from hundreds, if not thousands, of vehicles and transfer it to your vehicle. As a result, your car is being scratched by brushes as they drag across your paint, grinding rocks, tar, and other contaminants into your clearcoat. This disaster is not the case with our detailing services.
In the Vanquish Auto Detailing wash process, keeping our tools clean is paramount. That’s why we use the two bucket wash method to rinse out debris. This method prevents debris from getting into your paint that causes swirling, scratches and marring. Washing your car by hand also allows us to control the pressure we’re putting on your vehicle when using either a high quality wool wash pad or a plush microfiber towel. These methods also prevents marring.

Car washes also leave water behind containing detergents and other chemicals , possibly resulting in water spots on your car. If these spots are left unattended, they can permanently damage your vehicle’s finish beyond repair by etching or eating through the clear coat. In addition to water staining and scratching, these washes pull the car through the tunnel using a track system. The tracks can leave scratches, gouges, and marring on your wheels if you have lower-profile tires.

Touchless Car Washes
Next, let’s discuss touchless car washes or automatic car washes that use cleaners or soaps to remove contaminants from your car. These cleaners and soaps are extremely corrosive. They need to be caustic to “eat” and release contamination from the paint. However, these corrosive chemicals can potentially damage your clearcoat, leading to dulling, or possibly premature clearcoat damage or failure. The same is true for washes that use brushes if they use similar chemicals.
Our wash process uses a pH-neutral car shampoo for maintenance washes or routine cleanings. They are gentle on paint and provide lots of lubrication, so it reduces the chances of marring or scratching your paint.

This Tacoma has been run through automatic car washes its entire life. The clear coat was destroyed on it and was overdue for some much needed attention.
