How did Shepard's Cleaning LLC begin?
Its a strange thing honestly. Angie has cleaned houses in the past and she has always worked her part time social work/therapy career. We have a dear friend who had a back surgery that she needed to have done and she approached Angie wondering while she was recovering if Angie could clean some of her houses. So Angie did and after our friend was able to come back to take back over, she gave us a few houses to keep. So we chose to continue to clean and use this as extra income to fund our retirement goals.
Justin at this time was working as an insurance agent after leaving his career cutting meat. He would join Angie sometimes to help. Usually just to do floors as cleaning was not his thing. However after awhile, with Angies direction he learned little by little how to find areas of detail and how to make things shine. By adding more and more houses to our schedule came a day where it was looking like as a team we could do this full time together.
Honestly for both of us it was scary leap of faith. Husbands and wives working together all day can be difficult as you also go home with that person. It could be a really good day or a really bad day. However looking back we are so grateful that we did jump and do this together! Our marriage is such a blessing and has grown so much by doing this job together. We have both learned to listen and respect each other. We have learned how to really lean into each other's strengths and weaknesses. It honestly is what we needed to become a great team. We balance each other well.
So, this was never the plan but it has been a really fun and interesting journey. We have met sooooooooooo many amazing people and some amazing pets too ❤️ Many of whom are now our family. Its such a gift. There isn't a day or home we go into and we aren't grateful. Its been interesting and we are look forward to the years ahead.
Our business has grown quite a bit the past 4 years. Angie and Justin have had to step back cleaning so many days to focus on the business. Theres so much to being a business owner we never realized. It keeps us very busy and everyday are learning new tasks, problem solving and how to be better. Things sometimes don't go as planned or as maybe as good as we wanted but we continue to learn, adjust and strive to be better each day.
We want to thank all our family, friends, customers and the quad cities for your support. God bless you all 🙏
