Our customer called for a septic tank pump job a few weeks ago. Once we pumped the tank it appeared that a snake was most likely needed to get them flowing again and the clean out was not able to be located. They called roto rooter and were told they had to replace the line to their septic tank and they were quoted over $10k...wow...just for a 25 foot line. But, it wasn't going to be an easy job.
The customer called and asked our opinion. In the basement, you could see multiple lines going out from the back wall, so I knew somewhere out there all of it came together.
I bid the job at a reasonable price.
We started digging at the tank only to discover someone put the main line into the corner of the tank with a giant hole in the concrete. There was no seal and the tank was turning into dust, falling apart with gentle swipes with the shovel. Unfortunately, tank replacement was required.
As we started digging, we found multiple 4" and 2" lines running to the tank from the house. There were 2 gaping holes in the tank where someone had just drilled a big hole in the concrete and shoved sewer pipes in it with no seal at all. Biomat everywhere.
We brought all the lines together and joined them before going into the new tank. We had to re-route the entire system to make it work.
New 2 compartment 1,500 gallon poly tank with all the bells and whistles and new lines from the house.
Thanks again to Curt Eaton and Blue Springs Winwater Works Co.
