You have two homes: earth and your body. Take care of them!
A little self-care can make all the difference. So, we're sharing helpful tips and expert advice on how to take care of yourself (and the planet) while social distancing. To kick things off, we're heading to the bathroom with Roven, Grove's destination for clean beauty and skincare, to share ten simple ways you can make your personal care routine more sustainable:
1️⃣ It's tough to avoid plastic, but you can add a blue bin to your bathroom to encourage recycling
2️⃣ Take a quick look around the bathroom to identify items that can be swapped with metal, bamboo or glass – easily recyclable or biodegradable materials
3️⃣ Opt for clean beauty! Environmentally-friendly beauty and skincare with clean ingredients can help you feel incredible without doing harm to skin, hair, or the planet
4️⃣ Pass on disposable makeup wipes and double cleanse instead. Not up for adding double cleansing to your skincare routine? Opt for a reusable makeup towel remover instead
5️⃣ Avoid beauty or personal care formulas that contain microbeads, which can end up in the oceans. Roven's recommendation? Swap microbeads for biodegradable, renewable, and gentler jojoba beads
6️⃣ Choose fewer aerosols products. Skip cans of shaving cream for a gentle body wash instead
7️⃣ Swap plastic bottled shampoo for shampoo and conditioner bars. (Try HiBAR or SoapBox Soaps, both available on Grove!)
8️⃣ Swap single-use tampons and pads for Sustain period underwear and menstrual cups
9️⃣ Renovating your shower? Replace that non-recyclable vinyl shower curtain with a a shower screen instead
🔟 Keep a container in your tub to collect water during the last 1-2 minutes of a shower. Use this grey water to water plants
