A septic alarm is a signal that something needs attention. It may trigger due to high water in a pump chamber, a pump or electrical problem, a clogged component, or unusually heavy water use.

The first thing you should do if your alarm sounds is limit water use. Then, call a professional like State Line Septic for help. Avoid opening or entering a tank or chamber yourself as septic tanks can contain dangerous gases and are never safe to enter!

💡Do not ignore an alarm that seems to stop on its own; the condition that caused it may recur.

Garbage disposals are undoubtedly convenient, but they can significantly impact the health and lifespan of your septic system if not used properly.

If you choose to use one, follow these tips to protect your system:
1. Use it sparingly, not as a primary waste solution.
2. Always use cold water when you grind food.
3. Have your tank pumped twice as frequently.

Not sure how much sludge is sitting in your tank? Our crew can measure it and let you know exactly where you stand. Give State Line Septic a call to schedule your inspection or pumping today at (479) 619-8226.

There are plenty of home projects where ingenuity and creativity get the job done, but septic isn't one of them! 🙅🏼‍♀️

Improvised solutions, like the ones we found on this jobsite, create major safety hazards:
⚠️ Fall & Drowning Hazards: Cracked or mismatched lids can collapse under weight, putting kids, pets, and visitors at serious risk.
⚠️ Harmful Gas Leaks: Unsealed covers let toxic, bad-smelling gases like methane escape into your yard.
⚠️ System Overloads: Rainwater pours through the gaps, flooding your drainfield and causing costly backups.
⚠️ Debris & Pests: Openings welcome rocks, trash, and breeding pests right into your tank.

If your lid is cracked, loose, or doesn’t quite fit, reach out to State Line Septic and we'll get you on the schedule!

Where does the water go after it leaves your septic tank?💧

Ever wonder where all that water goes after you flush the toilet or take a shower? 🚽🚿 Think of the ground like a giant sponge! When water leaves your septic tank, it travels into your drain field, where it slowly soaks into the soil. 🌱 The soil acts like a natural filter! Tiny organisms in the ground help clean the water as it moves through. ☀️ Some water is absorbed by plants and released into the air. A little may evaporate. 💦 But much of that water continues traveling deeper into the ground and can eventually reach the groundwater (water table).

Mother Nature does an amazing job of helping clean and recycle water! That’s why a properly working septic system is so important. It helps protect our soil, groundwater, and drinking water! 💚

State Line Septic, helping protect what’s beneath.
