Happy Monday everyone! 😄

I’ve been busy keeping things running smoothly this past week! Another successful job is in the books.

I tackled an A/C condenser replacement to get this truck back in top shape. Here’s a little bit about why this work is so important:
• The A/C condenser's job is to cool down high-pressure refrigerant v***r so it turns back into a liquid, which is what keeps your cabin nice and cool.
• This part is located right behind the grille, it is often susceptible to damage from road debris like small stones, making professional replacement the best way to ensure your A/C system stays in working order.

A quick update for all my customers: While I can replace the hardware, I am currently unable to evacuate or recharge the A/C system. However, I am working on adding this service and hope to be able to offer full A/C service for you in the near future!

Is your car losing power? It might be your alternator!🚙⚡️

Just wrapped up an alternator replacement on this Chevy equinox recently. It’s a common job, but a critical one. When this part fails, your vehicle eventually stops running altogether.

What does the alternator actually do?
Many people think the battery powers the car while driving, but that’s actually the alternator’s job! Once your engine is started, the alternator takes over to:
• Power your electrical systems: Everything from your headlights and radio to your AC and power windows.
• Recharge your battery: It constantly replenishes the energy used to start your car so you’re ready for the next drive.

⚠️ 4 Signs your alternator is on its way out:
1. Dimming or flickering lights: If your headlights seem weaker than usual or brighten/dim as you accelerate, it’s a major red flag.
2. Battery warning light: Don't ignore that "ALT" or battery-shaped icon on your dash!
3. Strange growling or whining noises: Before they fail, they often sound like a worn-out bearing.

Engine Sweating? 🥵 Could be a coolant problem. Find out why this 'liquid gold' is your car's best friend. Don't miss these “cool” facts!

On a recent job I did I performed a diagnostic check on this customers vehicle. After my inspection, I found a small coolant leak coming from the radiator, which means it’s time for a replacement! It’s also the perfect reminder of how vital your cooling system is.

Why does coolant matter?
Think of coolant (or antifreeze) as the lifeblood of your engine's temperature regulation. Its main job is to absorb heat from the engine and dissipate it through the radiator, preventing your engine from overheating. It also contains additives that protect the internal components of your engine from rust and corrosion.

What happens if you have a leak?
Driving with low or leaking coolant is a major risk. If you lose too much fluid, your engine can quickly reach dangerous temperatures, leading to:
• Overheating and potential engine failure.
• Warped cylinder heads or blown head gaskets.
• Costly, long-term damage to the engine block.

What is that tool in the photo?
You might have noticed the blue device attached to the reservoir in my photo. That is a cooling system pressure tester.

How it works: It’s a specialized hand pump that mimics the pressure your engine generates while running.

Why it helps: By manually pressurizing the system while the engine is cool, I can safely and accurately pinpoint exactly where a leak is coming from. Whether it’s a tiny pinhole in the radiator, a loose hose, or a failing gasket, without waiting for the engine to overheat on the road. It takes the guesswork out of the repair!

Another wheel bearing replacement!

I sure do get a lot of work on wheel bearings, and I’ve done quite a few in the past few weeks! They need their upkeep around here, and with the way our roads are, they definitely take a beating.

With summer just around the corner, the heat is about to put your vehicle to the test. High temperatures are brutal on cars, but a little prevention goes a long way.

Here are 4 quick tips to make sure your ride doesn't leave you stranded in the heat:
• Check your coolant : Your engine works twice as hard in the summer. If your coolant is low or old, you’re risking a major overheat. 🌡️
• Check your battery: Did you know summer heat actually drains battery life faster than winter cold? If your battery is getting old, the heat might just finish it off. 🔋
• Monitor tire pressure: High temperatures cause the air in your tires to expand, which can lead to over-inflation and dangerous blowouts. Make sure they are set to the correct PSI. 🛞
• Inspect belts and hoses: Hot weather accelerates the breakdown of rubber. A cracked belt or a brittle hose can snap without warning and leave you stranded. 🧵

Real talk: Sometimes the best "fix" is knowing when to walk away. 🚶🏽‍♂️

I’m not your typical mechanic or dealership. I’m not here to take hundreds or thousands of your hard earned dollars to patch up a vehicle that’s past the point of no return. My goal is to be upfront and honest, even when it’s bad news.

I recently looked at this 2004 F150 truck for a customer. Between the super high mileage and the engine issues, the real deal-breaker was the frame. As you can see in these photos, the frame is completely rotted out.

Pouring money into repairs wouldn't change the fact that this truck isn't safe or built to last much longer. I hate delivering bad news, but I’d hate it even more if I let a customer spend money on a lost cause. She appreciated the honesty and has decided it’s time for a new ride.
