❌ Myth: You have to separate every color.

✅ Truth: Most modern clothes are colorfast. While it's still smart to separate new dark or brightly colored items for the first few washes, you don't need five different laundry piles every week.

💡 Laundry Tip: Wash new reds, blues, and blacks separately the first few times.

❌ Myth: Fabric softener is good for every load.

✅ Truth: Some fabrics actually perform better without it.

Fabric softener can leave a coating that reduces the absorbency of towels and microfiber cloths, and it may affect the moisture-wicking properties of athletic wear.

💡 Laundry Tip: Skip the fabric softener for towels, microfiber cloths, and most performance fabrics to help them work the way they're designed.

❌ Myth: You should wash your jeans after every wear.

✅ Truth: Most jeans don't need to be washed that often.

Unless they're visibly dirty or have picked up odors, many experts recommend wearing jeans several times before washing. Washing too frequently can fade the color and wear out the fabric faster.

💡 Laundry Tip: Turn your jeans inside out and wash them in cold water when it's time to clean them.

✅ Truth: Hot water isn't always the best choice.

While hot water is great for towels, sheets, and heavily soiled items, many everyday clothes actually last longer when washed in cold water. Cold water helps prevent shrinking, fading, and wear, and today's detergents are designed to work well in cold water, too.

💡 Laundry Tip: Save hot water for items that truly need it, and wash most everyday loads in cold.

❌ Myth: More detergent = Cleaner clothes.

✅ Truth: Using too much detergent can actually make your clothes less clean!

Extra detergent doesn't always rinse away completely. Instead, it can leave behind a sticky residue that traps dirt and odors, makes fabrics feel stiff, and may even irritate sensitive skin.

💡 Laundry Tip: For most full loads, about 2 tablespoons of liquid detergent is all you need.
