A little fall maintenance for this Hillsboro home yesterday 🍂

Pine needles had collected on the roof and packed the gutters. We blew the loose debris off the roof, cleared out the gutters, and applied zinc powder to help prevent moss growth through the wet season.

Clearing away those needles helps water drain properly and removes the damp buildup where moss can take hold.

Did you know roof moss holds water like a sponge? 🌱

It absorbs rainwater and keeps moisture against your shingles. As the buildup grows, moss can also work beneath shingle edges and lift them over time.

That’s why roof moss is worth addressing before it becomes a thick layer.

For lighter growth, a low-pressure liquid treatment may be enough. Heavier buildup often needs careful removal of the larger clumps, followed by a soft wash moss treatment.

Finished up a pretty heavy roof moss cleaning recently!

This roof had a lot of moss and organic debris built up between the shingles, especially in the shaded areas. We carefully removed the heavy buildup by hand to clean the roof safely without damaging the shingles, then cleaned out the gutters, cleaned up the debris around the property, and hauled everything away.

Once the roof was cleaned, we applied a professional moss treatment to kill the remaining growth and help slow future regrowth.

🍂 Just in time for the first fall rain!

A lot of moss came off this one. Years of growth had built up across the roof, and the gutter guards definitely hadn't kept everything out - the gutters underneath were packed.

Here’s what we took care of:

• Heavy moss carefully removed from the roof
• Gutters and gutter guards cleaned out
• Full roof moss treatment to kill remaining growth
• Zinc applied for some extra help with the coming rain
• Driveway and front paver areas surface cleaned
• All moss and roof debris cleaned up from the ground afterward

We don't pressure wash or aggressively scrub asphalt shingles. We remove the heavy buildup, treat what's left, and allow the remaining moss to die and weather away naturally.

All moss treatment performed by an Oregon-licensed commercial pesticide applicator.

Couldn’t have timed this one much better - first real fall rain is on the way. 🌧️

These pavers had quite a bit of moss growing in the joints, and the exposed aggregate had built up plenty of grime over the years.

6:00 AM in Downtown Hillsboro 💦

We recently had the opportunity to donate our time and equipment to help clean up sidewalks in Downtown Hillsboro, removing old chalk markings and leaving the concrete looking fresh again.

It was a fun early-morning project and a great opportunity to give back to a community we’re proud to serve.
