However, I empathize with families struggling to find reliable pool services in our area. Unlike residential pool service companies, commercial operators like ourselves must meet stringent requirements, including licensing, insurance, and training, while adhering to industry standards. Pool service for today has been suspended due to the snow and ice on the roads, which has created hazardous driving conditions. Although I am familiar with navigating such conditions, having grown up in the north, others in SC may not possess the same level of experience.

During the recent commercial pool season, I conducted inspections of other pool companies' and CPOs' work, revealing subpar performance from May to September 2024.
Damages resulting from incompetence or negligence of workers, supervisors, and owners were observed, including: equipment changes or additions without SCDHEC approval, incorrect or damaged equipment installation, pool shell damage due to improper chemical levels, salt cell damage from lack of salt or improper cleaning, filter damage from poor maintenance, potential motor unit damage from inadequate water flow, and mismanagement of chemicals.
Over 15 site inspections revealed consistent non-compliance, prompting multiple contacts with SCDHEC and documentation. Public health and safety were compromised, resulting in estimated damages exceeding $100,000 across several locations.
These CPOs and pool companies demonstrated negligence and should be prohibited from working on commercial pools due to their failure to meet standards.
