Her grandfather built these cabinets over 60 years ago. Every door, every hinge, and every piece was marked by his touch.
By the time she found us, she’d already heard it all:
“Not worth it.”
“Just paint them.”
“Replace everything.”
But she didn’t want new. She wanted these.
And being honest, when we first saw them, we understood why other people said no. The damage was real. The finish was worn and uneven. Badly placed and damaging child locks that needed careful removal to lessen the extent of damage. Dents and dings and scratches galore. And that original color, an aged orange shellac? That wasn’t something you could just match.
It would’ve been easier to cover it. Faster to start over. But that wasn’t the job.
We took our time. Tested. Adjusted. Tried again.
Chased down a finish that had been changing for decades.
All the time and effort was worth it. When they were finished, she was overjoyed. Because they felt like him again and they weren’t gone.
This is why we do what we do. ❤️
