Have Rodents? Let's ID them for you!

With the recent rainy weather, over the past two weeks, our customers have been contacting us about their rodent issues. So let's help you id those critters and feeding signs so you can be more prepared to deal with the rodent issues.

Once we id them as a rat or a mouse, we can treat the premises. There are three common types of rodents and mice that we typically find when dealing with rodents in the United States:

1) Black Rat or Roof Rat (Rattus Rattus)
2) The Norway Rat (Rattus Norvegicus)
3) The house rat (Mus Musculus)

Where to quickly find Rats and Mice :
Mice nests are usually found under loose papers, inside upholstered furniture, and even cabinet drawers.

Norway rat can always be found underground.

Roof Rats can be found in double walls and attics.

Lastly, look for the level of infestation by five important signs:

Feeding Signs: Is it messy or neat ( messy could mean that there are more rats or mice than you think.)

Runways: ( If they are smooth, you have a problem because they are starting to make the passageways smooth with use)

Droppings: ( Fresh, numerous, and everywhere can equal a big problem for you)

Smears: If it looks greasy and very heavy, it's not good.

Sounds: Norway rats are not sociable and don't like others in their areas. Mice can squeal in their nests, and Rats make running and squealing noises even when not alarmed.

These are simple ways you can identify your rodents. In our next Pest Management post, we cover the Method of control and Rat Proofing your home. Call 844-218-4044 today or visit our web-site www.pestmanagementcorp.com

Did you know that Termites damage approximately over 500,000 homes just in the United States each year?

That's right, over 500,000 homes are going to be damaged this year alone by Termites. As a homeowner, do you have a plan for Termite Control?

First, let's be on the lookout for Termites. Where are they, and how are they found? Do you know where to look?

Here is a well know fact about Termites. They must subsist on cellulose, which every termite gets from the wood they eat. They love to live near wood and are very social insects.
Subterranean termites love the moisture in the earth to live, so check outside the home's perimeter for termites.

Those will be easier to find than Drywood termites since they don't need the earth to survive. They get the moisture to survive from, you guess it from the wood and the home. It's a fact that Drywood termites could have multiple infestations throughout the home or building. Call Us today for an inspection at 844-218-4044

5 Top Mosquito Tips for Pest Management Clients:

Mosquito Tip One: Walk around your surroundings
Before spraying yourself with bug spray, make your backyard less inviting to mosquitos. Start by eliminating any standing, stagnant water where mosquitos could breed. Check places like buckets, gutters, children's playsets, or plastic covers.

Mosquito Tip Two: Grow your garden
Try a chemical-free approach to repelling mosquitos, by adding potted plants to your garden can go a long way to repel mosquitoes. It's the essential oils inside these plants that indeed repel mosquitos, and those oils are released when the leaves are crushed or rubbed directly onto the skin.

Mosquito Tip Three: Invest in a misting system
Misting systems are one way to wage war against mosquitos on your property seriously. These systems are made up of nozzles connected via tubing to a tank that holds an insecticide. The vents, set around the perimeter of your yard, spray a fine mist of poison to kill and repel mosquitos.

Mosquito Tip Four: Fix your wardrobe when you go outside. Long sleeves, pants, and socks are one way to protect against mosquitos. Most fabric can act as a barrier, making it more difficult for mosquitos to reach your skin in the first place. If long sleeves and pants aren't your Texas summer style, tucking in your shirt is still a good idea.

Mosquito Tip Five: Chemical repellents fight mosquitos through sprays, armbands, and clip-on accessories.

While mosquitoes might be among the most annoying pests to encounter and may not seem to be the most severe pest to deal with, they are among the most dangerous. This is due to the number of diseases that mosquitoes can carry malaria, encephalitis, yellow, and dengue fevers.

Mosquito Extermination
The best approach to mitigating the mosquito population around your home is by draining any standing water. This provides them with the right environmental conditions to thrive. Examples of areas with standing water mosquitoes can use rain gutters, buckets, birdbaths, and swimming pools, to name a few.

Taking proper care of your yard by mowing your lawn and pulling weeds along the fence line also helps. When using mosquito repellent, ensure that your using is EPA-approved.

Using these methods can help control the situation for more permanent mosquito service needs contact Pest Management 1-844-218-4044 to have our exterminators administer treatment.
