I use a clay bar to remove the more embedded dirt and contamination in the paint that isn’t taken off by a pressure wash/hand wash. its abrasive enough where it’ll pick up those things, but not damage the paint, if used correctly. It’s an important step if you were to do a paint correction and/or applying a sealant/wax. you don’t want to trap contamination behind a protective coat!

this process can usually take from 30 minutes to an hour depending on how neglected the car condition is. you can also feel immediate results by running your fingers lightly across the paint. if it’s rough and has some noise to it, like sand paper, chances are your car is overdue for proper care. after completing a clay bar, the paint becomes very smooth and much softer, with little noise from running your fingers across.
