I know it’s convenient, but dish soap isn’t designed for automotive surfaces.

Dish soap is made to cut through grease and oils. With repeated use, it can remove waxes and other protective products you’ve applied to your vehicle.

🚗 Instead: Use a quality, automotive-specific car soap—preferably one formulated for safe cleaning while maintaining your vehicle’s existing protection.

🧽 Tip Tuesday | Your Car Can Be Clean & Still Contaminated

Ever wash your vehicle and wonder why the paint still feels rough?

A wash removes surface dirt, but it doesn’t always remove bonded contaminants that can stick to your paint.

🚗 Common contaminants include:
• Iron particles & brake dust

🧼 A CLEAN VEHICLE ISN’T JUST ABOUT SOAP & WATER

One thing I’ve learned from detailing is that how you clean a vehicle matters just as much as how clean it looks afterward.

This truck had a heavy buildup of dirt and grime. Instead of simply spraying it down and calling it clean, the goal was to safely loosen and remove the contamination while minimizing the chance of scratching the surface.

A proper exterior wash should focus on:

• Breaking down dirt before touching the paint
• Using the right cleaning products
• Working from top to bottom
• Giving extra attention to wheels, tires, trim & tight areas
• Thoroughly rinsing away loosened contamination
• Drying the vehicle properly

🚨 The biggest mistake?

Thinking that more pressure, more scrubbing, or stronger chemicals automatically means a better clean.

Sometimes, the right process is more important than more effort.

Your floor mats may be a small part of your vehicle, but they take a BIG beating every day.

They collect:
🟤 Dirt & dust
💧 Moisture
🛢️ Oils & residue
🍂 Debris
👃 Odor-causing buildup

Over time, that buildup can make its way into your carpet and contribute to stains and unwanted odors.

💡 Alexander’s Tip: Remove your mats, shake them out, vacuum underneath, and clean them regularly. Don’t just clean around them—clean them too.

Another Interior Reset in the Books 🚙✨

One thing detailing has taught me is that the areas that get used the most usually tell the story of the vehicle.

This is a daily-driven family vehicle, so dirt, crumbs, dust, shoe marks, and everyday buildup are going to happen. The goal isn’t to keep a vehicle perfectly clean 24/7—it’s to prevent that buildup from getting out of control.

This driver-side floor went from everyday family use ➡️ clean, refreshed, and back to a maintainable condition.

That’s why I believe in the Reset → Maintain approach.

Get the vehicle back where it needs to be, then maintain it regularly so every appointment doesn’t have to become another deep restoration.

Just another day doing what I enjoy and helping people take better care of their vehicles. 💪🏾
