We get asked this one question A LOT: why do you need to polish a “brand new” car?

Simple answer-proper surface prep!

Long answer-new cars aren’t new when you pick them up from the dealer. They’ve been handled, transported, handled again, and sat outside. This isn’t a knock on dealerships, just the reality of the situation. Most cars arrive to dealers after a train ride, semi ride, and environmental fallout has already set in. Iron, swirl marks, and other surface damage needs to be removed before we do anything. We polish to start with a clean slate. Ceramic coatings and films protect and perform their best on properly prepared surfaces. Often times this process improves the clarity and gloss of a new car. Making a new car look better than new! We don’t cut this corner, it’s nonnegotiable for us. Don’t want that step? We are not the shop for you. Want it done with maximum results in mind? Come see us. A full detail in 1990 cost around $100. Dawn dish soap, Armor-All, grandad’s turtle wax.

That same $100 today has the buying power of about $245. And a professional detail in 2026 runs $300 or more meaning pricing hasn’t outpaced inflation. It’s kept pace with it.

But the bigger story here isn’t the price. It’s what the price buys now versus then.

In 1990, a full detail meant a hand wash, a vacuum, a wipe-down, one step wax, tire shine, and glass cleaning. That was the standard. That was the whole job.

Today, a proper detail starts with multi-stage decontamination like iron remover, clay bar treatment, surface prep before a machine ever touches the paint.
