A little before and after from one of our recent rodent exclusion jobs!

We had a homeowner reach out to us regarding concerns with rodents potentially entering her home. During our inspection, we identified several areas that needed attention, including this exterior door.

As you can see, the bottom of the door had deteriorated quite a bit, leaving a pretty substantial opening for rodents to take advantage of.

We went ahead and reinforced the damaged section with sheet metal and installed an Xcluder rodent-resistant door sweep to completely seal off the opening.

One thing we always try to educate homeowners on is that controlling rodents around a property is only part of the equation. Identifying and addressing potential entry points is just as important.

It’s always rewarding to make repairs like this that can help protect someone’s home for years to come!

We want to start by saying that we genuinely love animals, and we understand that pictures like this can be difficult for some people to see. Taking an animal’s life is never something we take lightly, but unfortunately, there is a reality to rodent control that isn’t always pleasant.

Right now, the overwhelming majority of our calls are coming from homeowners dealing with rats and mice. We’re seeing a significant increase in activity throughout the area, and it doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.

The unfortunate reality is that rodents can cause some serious problems when they make their way into our homes. Chewed electrical wiring, damaged plumbing, destroyed insulation, and contaminated ductwork can quickly turn into thousands of dollars in repairs.

Beyond the property damage, there’s also the concern of what they’re leaving behind. Urine, droppings, and nesting materials can create unhealthy conditions in spaces where we live and breathe.

As the weather continues to change, rodents are actively looking for shelter and places to nest, and our homes can provide exactly what they’re looking for.

Whether you choose to tackle an issue yourself, hire us, or bring in another professional, we just want people to be aware of what we’re seeing right now.

We have a tremendous amount of respect for wildlife, but we also believe there’s a responsibility to protect our homes and families from the damage and health concerns that come with unwanted rodent activity.

These came down from a hard-to-reach second-story roofline during a recent initial general pest control service.

Along with removing these nests, Tyson tackled spiders, cobwebs, and other pest activity around the property.

We came across a pretty good example recently of why finding signs of rats or mice inside your house isn’t always as simple as setting a couple traps and calling it good.

This was at a customer’s house in Meadow Vista that we already regularly service. A few weeks earlier, I had noticed some droppings outside near their deck. I took a picture of it, put it in their service notes and let them know what I had found. At that point everything I was seeing was outside, so there wasn’t really a reason to assume they had anything going on inside the house.

A few weeks later, they called us because they had started finding signs inside.

Once I started looking around and following where the activity was showing up, I ended up underneath the kitchen sink. Behind the plumbing, something had chewed its way through an area that looked like it had actually been repaired before.

We opened things up enough to get a good look at what was going on and secured the opening with 1/4-inch metal hardware cloth. I also put two traps underneath the sink just in case something was still inside after we closed that opening up. The last thing I want to do is seal something into somebody’s house and assume the job is finished.

We also put two bait stations outside based on where we had already been seeing activity around the property.

I thought this was a good job to share because it shows how much detective work can go into rat and mouse issues. Finding the droppings is one piece of the puzzle. From there, it’s figuring out where they’re going, where they may be getting in and what actually needs to be done about it.

Okay, I need some opinions on this one.

We’ve been playing around with the idea of making some Gingerly shirts that are a little different from your typical pest control company shirt.

I wanted something that actually feels like us — a little loud, a little retro, and definitely not boring. 😂

So we started messing around with Hamish, some 80s vibes, and our Gingerly colors… and this is where we ended up.

Now the question is:

If we actually made these… would you rock it?

Because I’m starting to think we might need to make a batch. 👀
