When we perform a chimney inspection, our primary focus is ensuring that your fireplace and heating system are completely safe, efficient, and structurally sound.
We begin with a thorough examination of the exterior structure, checking the masonry, brickwork, and mortar for cracks, deterioration, or water damage that could compromise the chimney's stability.
We also inspect exterior components like the chimney cap and crown, which act as the first line of defense against rain, debris, and animal intrusions.
Water is a chimney’s worst enemy, so catching cracks or gaps in the exterior early helps prevent expensive structural repairs down the road.
Inside the home, we examine the hearth, firebox, damper, and connection points to verify everything is operating smoothly and aligned with safety standards.
We conduct a detailed interior sweep of the flue lining. During this phase, we look closely for dangerous creosote buildup (a highly flammable byproduct of burning wood) as well as flue liner cracks, gaps, or blockages. Missing or damaged flue tiles can expose the surrounding wooden framework of your home to extreme temperatures and toxic combustion gases like carbon monoxide. By inspecting every angle from top to bottom, we give you full peace of mind that your home remains safe and warm all season long.

A chimney inspection is a thorough evaluation of your entire fireplace and venting system to ensure it’s safe, clean, and functioning properly. During an inspection, we examine the exterior of the chimney for cracks, loose bricks, damaged mortar, or signs of weathering. Inside the chimney, we check the flue liner for cracks, gaps, buildup, or blockages that could lead to smoke or carbon monoxide issues. We also look at the firebox and smoke chamber for damage or creosote buildup, and we make sure the damper opens, closes, and seals correctly. The inspection includes assessing the chimney cap and crown for leaks, rust, animal entry, or deterioration, as well as checking the roofline and flashing to ensure everything is secure and watertight. A proper inspection helps catch problems early, prevents fires, improves efficiency, and gives you peace of mind every time you use your fireplace.

Creosote is a highly flammable buildup that forms inside your chimney when wood burns. Many homeowners don’t realize it’s there until it becomes a serious hazard.
⚠️ Signs of creosote buildup:
• Strong, smoky or burnt odor coming from your fireplace
• Black, shiny, or tar-like coating inside the chimney
• Poor draft or smoke backing up into your home
• Crackling or popping sounds while burning
• Fires that seem harder to start or keep going
• Visible soot or debris falling into your fireplace
🔥 Why it’s dangerous:
Creosote is the #1 cause of chimney fires. It can ignite quickly and burn extremely hot, putting your home and family at risk. Even a small buildup can turn into a major problem if left untreated.
