Q: What does “Wash Ready” mean and why is it important??

A: Wash ready simply means that your soiled diapers are all set to go straight into the washing machine once they are picked up for laundering. This looks like:

✨ Dumping all solids before tossing into your hamper/pail
✨ Unfasten and separate all prefolds from diaper covers
✨ Unstuff pocket diapers (if using the Wash My Stash service)

This helps to ensure your diapers get fresh and clean each week, and keeps preventable sanitation “whoopsies”….(like poo covered washing machine drums) to a minimum!

Are you interested in cloth diapering your little nugget but unsure of where to start? Perhaps you are feeling overwhelmed by the laundering process? So many choices, styles, and options! How do you know what kind of cloth diapers to choose?

In this session we will be covering:

One of our most frequently asked questions is “How do you get the dirty diapers so clean?!”

When cloth diapering, having a solid wash routine is EVERYTHING. It all depends on the type of washing machine you have, how hard your water is, what detergents you plan to use, etc.

Here at Sweetie Pie, we use Fragrance Free laundry detergent. We also use a tiny bit of disinfecting bleach for sanitation purposes.

Each customer’s diapers get washed a minimum of two times (on a heavy wash setting), with a prewash and multiple post wash rinses. This ensures that your diapers are sanitized and refreshed every single week! We don’t skimp on a thorough wash routine. We also stain treat with hydrogen peroxide as needed, and sun bleach as often as the weather allows!

While we have perfected our wash routine, occasionally we have customers with specific wash preferences! We go the distance to honor these requests as much as possible and still maintain the integrity of our cleaning services!

“What do I do with the dirty ones??”

This is the easy part!

1. Flush any solid waste: If baby is fed breastmilk, the poo will wash right out. For formula fed babies and babies eating solid food, just dump the poo into the toilet.

2. Toss the prefold (open or crumpled is fine!) in the hamper lined with your included laundry bag.

That’s it!

Things to consider…

✨ Dirty cloth diapers need to breathe! This is why we strongly encourage using a hamper with holes as your storage receptacle. This helps prevent ammonia build up and dramatically reduces odor causing bacteria.

✨ Solid waste WILL NOT wash out. It will coat the washing machine and make for a dramatic and unsanitary mess every single time. Solid waste sitting for a week in a bag of diapers is also asking for 🐛 🐛 Nobody wants that! Flush the poo, friends 😉

✨ Disposable wipes belong in the trash, not your laundry bag. They clog the washing machine drains.

✨ Rolled up diapers will not come clean in the wash! Please unfold them (just 🤏 a corner and give a little shake) before dropping them in your laundry bag.

So…. How does it work?? 🤔

Here’s a step by step guide on how to use our prefold diapers with the option of the Snappi fastener!

1. Gather your supplies - prefold, Snappi, and diaper cover.

2. Fold your prefold diaper lengthwise in thirds.

3. Place baby on top of diaper.

4. Bring the bottom of the diaper up between baby’s legs to their tummy.

5. Fan out the front and back edges of the diaper slightly.

6. Take one back edge and wrap it around baby, coming to the front side of their hip.

7. Fasten the Snappi at the hip and towards the crotch.

8. Bring the second rear flap around and fasten in place with the Snappi.

9. Adjust your diaper cover to the correct size and put on top of the prefold!

10. You’re all set!

Everyone get excited!

Our brand new All In One diaper service option is launching on December 1st, 2023!!

Just like in our other service packages, customers will receive 80 AIO diapers per week. The best part of AIO service is that there is no phenagling multiple diaper parts and pieces while trying to wrestle a squirmy baby who may not love bum changes! Everything is already put together so all you have to do is fasten the snaps.

We will have two types of AIO diapers in rotation - ones with flap style inserts that are sewn into the tummy and rear panels, and ones that have inserts inside of a dry-to-touch, moisture wicking liner.
