❄️ Cold Weather Warning: Frozen Pipes Are Likely ❄️
With the extreme cold temperatures over the past few days, frozen pipes are becoming increasingly common. Unfortunately, they can lead to sudden pipe bursts and serious water damage.
🏠Help prevent frozen pipes:
• Keep your thermostat set to a consistent temperature, even overnight
• Allow faucets to drip slightly to relieve pressure in the pipes
• Open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air to circulate
• Ensure exterior doors, windows, and crawl spaces are properly sealed
• Disconnect and drain outdoor hoses
🔎If you suspect a pipe is frozen:
• Turn on the faucet to help relieve pressure
• Apply gentle heat such as a hair dryer or warm towels. Never use an open flame!
• If you’re unsure or can’t access the pipe, call a professional
🔥 Important heat safety reminder:
During extreme cold, many homeowners turn to space heaters, generators, or other secondary heat sources. Please use extreme caution. Improper use can lead to house fires or carbon monoxide poisoning.
• Never use fuel burning heaters, grills, or generators indoors
• Keep space heaters at least 3 feet away from anything flammable
• Ensure carbon monoxide detectors are installed and working properly
• Never leave heaters running unattended
💦If a pipe bursts:
• Shut off the main water supply immediately
• Call a professional restoration company right away to limit damage
