You've screened for carcinogens. Have you thought as carefully about mutagens?
Chemical mutagens cause permanent changes to DNA. Not temporary damage — permanent mutations. In germ cells, those changes can be inherited by future generations. Under CLP, Category 1A and 1B germ cell mutagens carry the H340 hazard statement. Under REACH, they can qualify as SVHCs. And unlike some hazards, the consequences of getting this wrong aren't easily undone.
Our new explainer covers what chemical mutagens are, how mutagenicity differs from genotoxicity, how testing works (including where QSAR modelling and the Ames test fit in), and what this means practically for product safety, SDS documentation, and supply chain management.
