Due to rising water levels, the Outagamie County Sheriff's Office is issuing a No Wake order for all waterways in Outagamie County effective immediately.

"During a declared flood emergency no person shall operate a boat faster than slow-no-wake in the waters of Outagamie County whenever traveling within 500 feet of any permanent building, structure, bridge, or pier. This does not include a floating raft." Outagamie Ordinance Sec. 34-25

The Sheriff’s Office utilizes the National Weather Service Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service’s Shiocton Location to monitor waterway levels. Once the levels are no longer in or above the “Action” stage, the No Wake order will be lifted.

S*X OFFENDER INFORMATIONAL BULLETIN
January 5th, 2026
The City of Appleton Police Department is releasing the following information pursuant to Wisconsin State Statute 301.46 which authorizes law enforcement agencies to inform the public of a s*x offender’s release, when, in the discretion of the agency, the release of information will enhance public safety, awareness and protection. The individual who appears on this notification has been convicted of multiple s*xual offenses. Further, his criminal history places him at a classification level which reflects the potential to re-offend.
This s*x offender is not wanted by the police at this time. This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public.
S*x offenders have always lived in our communities; but it was not until the S*x Offender Registration and Community Notification Law was enacted that law enforcement was able to share this information with the community. Citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate or harass registered s*x offenders will not be tolerated.
Anderson was convicted of 2nd Degree S*xual Assault/Force- 5 Counts, 1st Degree S*xual Assault – 3 Counts, and False Imprisonment. Anderson entered the home of a known adult female whom he had been dating. He assaulted her repeatedly and used restraints to subdue her. Anderson has multiple convictions for past forced s*xual assaults on females.
Dallas K. Anderson is scheduled to be released on 01/06/2026. He will be living at a location in the 500 Block of North Superior Street in the City of Appleton. Additional questions can be directed to the State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections at (608)240-5830, or Investigator Danoski, Appleton Police Department at (920)832-5524.

Some of Wisconsin’s bats are busy flying south for the winter.

The silver-haired bat (Lasionycteris noctivagans) pictured in this post roosts mostly in trees, so we don’t usually see them. However, when they’re migrating across more populated areas, they may take advantage of warm spots, like stone or brick buildings, to curl up for the day.

If you spot a bat that seems out of place, just give them space. You’ll probably notice they’ve moved on within a few short days.

If you can, take a photo and email it to [email protected] along with the location.
