We recently had a call about a wet basement that we investigated. After asking a lot of questions, we began to suspect a footer tile issue. We started locating tile around the house that we could access without digging and had a suspicion about the problem after looking at the neighbor’s new fence line.

It turns out the previous owners of the property had family living next door and had connected their footer tile to a field tile on the neighboring property. Years later, ownership changed on both properties and the neighbor installed a fence. You may have already guessed it… a fence post had been driven right through the old footer tile that nobody knew was there.

The moral of the story: try to keep records of all your drain tile for yourself and possibly the next owner. Take pictures and save drawings whenever you can to help keep track of tile locations. Repairs can become costly for problems that may have been preventable. Thankfully, today we have a lot more tools available to track drain tile than they did years ago.

Here’s a recent farm drive project heading back to the back forty 🚜

With all the wet weather this year, it was definitely time for some maintenance. We came in, cleaned it up, and laid fresh gravel to get it back in solid shape 👍

We recently had a customer who was tired of having their driveway washed away during heavy rain events. The problem was due to a Contractor adding a driveway for a house to the uphill side.
They didn't plan for the surface water, the driveway would redirect towards the existing neighbor's driveway. As shown in the picture, we added a catch basin to collect the water and pipe it under the driveway to prevent the washing of the driveway.

That's one of the advantages of Orr Construction, Inc. as we try to plan ahead to ensure we don't create something that will create a negative effect for anyone, let alone the neighbor's property.

There are many reasons to choose Orr Construction, Inc. over other Contractors.
One could be Larry's 57 years of experience, with a motto of "For a job done right from the start," and Brian's 35-plus years of experience. Another difference between us and other Contractors is that we really try to respect a customer's yard. This picture shows a job where we used our Mudd Traks to prevent damage to the customer's yard. We use them in soft ground conditions to access the work area with minimal disturbance to the yard. We realize the more damage done to a yard, the more there is to repair, which requires more work for someone and has a cost.
