Bats aren’t scary—they’re essential 🦇
They help control pests (one bat can eat thousands of bugs in a night!), pollinate plants, and even help spread seeds so forests can grow 🌱
When we come out to complete your bat inspection, let our technician know your interested in have a bat box or two installed. We’ll order them and install them for you 🙂.
Protecting bats = protecting our environment 💚.
🦇 A little brown bat hunts mosquitoes and other pests from dusk until dawn, making a big difference in your yard's insect population. Unfortunately, her natural roosts are disappearing.
But you can help with a bat house! Here's how to build and place it:
🦇 The build:
- Interior 24” tall x 14” wide
- 3-4 internal chambers, spaced ¾” apart
- Rough surfaces for grip
- Open bottom for entry
- Use untreated cedar, cypress, or plywood
- Caulk all seams to keep warmth in
🦇 The placement:
- 15-20 feet high on a pole or wall (not a tree)
- South or southeast facing for sun exposure
- Clear drop space below for takeoff
- Near water sources if possible
- Paint color based on your latitude
🦇 What to expect:
- Mount before April for spring occupancy
- First-year use is rare; patience is key!
- Look for droppings as a sign of occupancy
- Don’t open the box from May to August
Just $40 in materials and one Saturday morning can create a cozy home for bats! 🌿
