🕷️ WHY DO JORO SPIDERS KEEP COMING BACK?
If you've had your home treated for Joro spiders and you're still seeing them afterward, don't panic! It doesn't necessarily mean the treatment didn't work.
Joro spiders are especially difficult to control because they can move in from surrounding trees and vegetation and quickly rebuild their webs.
Here are some things that can help between professional treatments:
🏡 1. TURN OFF OUTDOOR LIGHTS
Outdoor lights attract moths, flies and other insects—which are basically a dinner bell for spiders. Turn off unnecessary lights at night.
💡 2. USE MOTION-ACTIVATED LIGHTS
If you need outdoor lighting, motion-activated lights can reduce the amount of time insects are attracted to your home.
🕸️ 3. REMOVE WEBS REGULARLY
Knock down webs around porches, eaves, windows, doors, decks, garages and fences. Removing webs helps discourage spiders from establishing those areas.
🌳 4. TRIM VEGETATION AWAY FROM YOUR HOUSE
Trees, shrubs and vines touching your home give spiders convenient places to anchor their webs. Keep vegetation trimmed back when possible.
🌿 5. KEEP GRASS AND WEEDS MAINTAINED
Overgrown vegetation can increase insect activity and provide additional places for spiders to live and hunt.
🗑️ 6. REDUCE OUTDOOR CLUTTER
Leaf piles, lumber, boxes, equipment and other debris around the home can provide hiding places for insects—and more insects means more spider food.
🚪 7. CHECK SCREENS & DOOR SEALS
Repair damaged screens and make sure doors are properly sealed. Keeping insects outside helps keep spiders outside too.
🍎 8. PICK UP FALLEN FRUIT
If you have fruit trees, remove fallen or rotting fruit. It can attract flies and other insects that spiders feed on.
🕷️ REMEMBER:
Seeing a few Joro spiders between treatments is normal. Professional treatment helps reduce spider activity, but it can't prevent spiders from moving onto your property from surrounding areas.
The best results come from combining professional pest control + web removal + reducing insects + managing vegetation + controlling exterior lighting.
