š YELLOWJACKETS ARE ON THE RISE! š
Weāve already had numerous calls for yellowjacket ground nests this week, and this is the time of year when their colonies can really start ramping up. If you havenāt checked around your property lately, now is a great time!
š WHERE TO LOOK FOR YELLOWJACKET NESTS
š± Holes in the ground, especially along the lawn, landscaping, and garden areas
šŖµ Underneath logs, landscape timbers, rocks, or other ground-level debris
š” Around the foundation and underneath siding
š Inside house peaks, soffits, eaves, and wall voids
šŖ Around sheds, garages, decks, playsets, and other outdoor structures
šļø Near garbage cans, compost, or areas where food and sugary drinks are present
ā ļø WHY CHECK NOW?
Yellowjackets can become increasingly defensive as their colonies grow. A hidden ground nest can be especially dangerous because it may be right where children, pets, or anyone mowing the lawn could accidentally disturb it.
š§š§ Have kids playing outside? Take a quick look around their play areas and the surrounding lawn. A few minutes of checking could help prevent a painfulāor potentially seriousāencounter.
