Today, our team started work on this beautiful Ram Longhorn, performing a two-step paint correction to remove a significant amount of swirl marks and paint imperfections. The goal is to restore depth, clarity, and that rich color that makes this truck stand out.

After the paint correction process, the customer chose our 9-Year Gtechniq Ceramic Coating package. This coating provides long-term protection, incredible gloss, and outstanding hydrophobic properties. With proper maintenance, it comes with a 9-year guarantee, and we’ll provide the owner with all the information needed to keep it performing at its best.

Our ceramic coatings are also reported to Carfax, providing documented protection that can help support your vehicle’s value.

The coating will cure for the next 16 hours, and we’ll have the truck ready for delivery tomorrow along with care and maintenance instructions.

Today, our team worked on a Jeep Grand Cherokee that came into our shop for a full interior detail, exterior detail, and a two-step paint correction. We were able to remove a significant amount of swirl marks and other imperfections from the vehicle’s clear coat, restoring depth, gloss, and clarity to the paint.

Tomorrow, we’ll complete the project by applying a 5-year Gtechniq Ceramic Coating, topped with Gtechniq EXO for enhanced gloss, slickness, and hydrophobic protection. This coating package comes with a 5-year warranty when properly maintained, and we’ll provide the owner with all the information needed to keep the vehicle looking its best.

As we continue expanding into Lawton, it makes me reflect on where Makai’s Automotive Detailing started. Before Altus became our main shop, before we had multiple locations, we started right out of our house with a simple goal: work hard, take care of people, and never cut corners.

One thing I always do is check in with our team. I don’t just ask how the cars are going—I ask how they’re doing mentally, physically, and emotionally. Today, I called our office manager in Altus to see how things were going.

The first thing I heard was a deep sigh.

“Charles, it’s been a horrible day.”

I asked her what was going on.

She said, “This car is horrible. The other car is horrible. That other car is horrible. We’ve tried everything we can think of.”

For a moment, I thought about what she was saying. The reality is that sometimes vehicles come into our shops after years of neglect. As detailers, we want to fix everything. We want every stain gone, every spot removed, and every customer amazed. When that doesn’t happen as easily as we’d like, it can be frustrating.

I could hear the stress in her voice. I could hear her questioning herself.

“Did I do it the right way?”
“Am I missing something?”
“I don’t understand why it’s not coming out.”

So I asked her one question:

“Did you give it 150%?”

Without hesitation, she said, “Yes.”

I told her that’s all I needed to hear.

If you’ve tried every process, every chemical, every technique, and you’ve given your absolute best effort, then that’s all anyone can ask. Sometimes the answer isn’t perfection—sometimes it’s making something look dramatically better than when it arrived.

I told her to confidently explain to the customer everything that was done and the effort that was put into the vehicle. She agreed and said, “It looks a lot better than when it came in.”

That’s what matters.

At Makai’s Automotive Detailing, we don’t promise miracles. We promise effort, honesty, and professionalism. If my team gives everything they’ve got and a customer still has concerns, they can call me directly. I’ll always stand behind my employees when they’ve done the right thing.

As I look across both locations—Altus and Lawton/Fort Sill—I realize how fortunate we are. We have seven employees who genuinely care about the work they do. They take pride in every vehicle, they stress over the details, and they treat our customers’ vehicles as if they were their own.

That’s hard to find these days.
