❄️ Frozen Pipe Prevention ❄️
A friendly reminder as we find ourselves approaching another freeze to take precautionary measures to prevent frozen pipes:
- Keep water flowing during freezing temperatures to maintain water movement. Not just a drip!
- Insulate your pipes. Pipe insulation or foam sleeves for exposed pipes in unheated areas like garages, attics, or crawl spaces. Be mindful of outdoor pipes and spigots.
- Seal gaps around pipes where cold air could seep in, using caulk or insulation.
- Open your cabinet doors underneath sinks to allow warm air to circulate around the pipe.
- Maintain indoor temperature even when you’re away from home. Consistant warmth allows for extra protection.
- Know your main shut off value. We often don’t think about this until a time of need. Incase of an emergency, quickly shutting off the water can be a critical component to minimizing damage.
Taking these precautions can help you avoid costly damage from frozen or burst pipes.
