🐀 RAT TIPS FROM HANS! 🔍
What's lurking beneath your feet?
Did you know rats are excellent diggers? They create underground burrow systems for shelter, nesting, raising their young, and escaping predators.
Today, Hans from Complete Ground Control Pest Services is sharing a few tips on how to identify a possible rat burrow!
🐀 SIZE MATTERS! Rat burrow entrances are commonly 2–4 inches in diameter. That's considerably larger than many mouse holes!
🐀 SHAPE IS A CLUE! Look for round or slightly oval openings with relatively smooth sides. Active burrows may have freshly disturbed soil around the entrance.
🐀 LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Rats love protected areas. Check along foundations, underneath sheds, beside concrete slabs, around drainage areas, along fence lines, and beneath thick vegetation.
🐀 HOW TO INSPECT! Grab a flashlight and walk the perimeter of your home or outbuildings. Look for:
Freshly excavated dirt
Smooth, well-used openings
Worn pathways through vegetation
Droppings and greasy rub marks
Multiple openings that may connect underground
🐀 HANS'S PRO TIP! Not every hole belongs to a rat! Ground squirrels, chipmunks, and other burrowing animals can leave similar openings. Look for multiple signs of activity before identifying the culprit.
⚠️ Never reach into an unidentified burrow or disturb one without knowing what's inside!
At Complete Ground Control Pest Services, we believe successful rodent control starts with understanding how rodents live, travel, and enter structures.
Big enough to handle it, small enough to care!
