Last summer, a customer from Northeast Heights pulled into our shop just off Central Ave.
Black SUV. Beautiful vehicle.
Or at least… it used to be.
The hood was faded. The roof was chalky. Swirl marks covered the doors. He told us, “I wash it all the time. I don’t know what happened.”
We do.
Albuquerque happened.
High desert sun. Dust storms rolling through. Mineral-heavy rain. Temperature swings that stress clear coat day after day.
From Uptown to Rio Grande Blvd, we see it every week. The sun slowly oxidizes paint. Wind pushes fine sand across the surface like sandpaper. Monsoon rain leaves behind hard water spots that etch into the clear coat.
Most drivers don’t notice it until the shine is gone.
We walked him through the process. Paint correction to remove oxidation. Precision polishing to eliminate swirl marks. Then a ceramic coating to protect it from the next Albuquerque summer.
When he picked it up, he just stood there for a minute.
The reflection of the Sandia Mountains in that finish said everything.
That’s the difference between a quick wash and real protection.
Detailing isn’t cosmetic. In Albuquerque, it’s defensive.
If your vehicle is starting to look dull, faded, or dusty no matter how often you wash it, seasonal damage may already be setting in.
