🚨 WILDFIRE ASH ON YOUR VEHICLE? - Let's go over some details and TIPS! 🤙🏾 (THANKS FOR READING - SHARE SHARE SHARE)

If your vehicle is covered in wildfire ash…

❌ Don’t dust it off.
❌ Don’t wipe it down while it’s dry.
❌ Don’t let the ash sit on the paint any longer than necessary.

The biggest risk isn’t the water—it’s the ash itself.

Those tiny ash particles can act like a fine abrasive. Wiping a dry, ash-covered vehicle can drag those particles across the paint, increasing the risk of scratches and swirl marks.

“But Manny....what if I wash my car, won’t the ash turn into lye and damage my paint?”

- While wildfire ash does contain naturally alkaline minerals, simply washing your vehicle does not create a highly corrosive “lye” solution that ruins your paint. In fact, promptly washing your vehicle using proper techniques is one of the best things you can do to protect it.

🧼 Here’s what I professionally recommend :

1.) Thoroughly rinse the vehicle first to remove as much loose ash as possible.

- Use a pressure washer if you can!
- Using a hose? : Use the "jet" spray setting to really get in between the panels and tight spots.

2.) Wash with plenty of lubrication using proper wash techniques.

- Add and extra capful of your car wash soap to your wash bucket! : EXTRA lubrication never hurts!
- Wash wheels and tires first!
- Wash in straight lines - NO CIRCLES.
- Wash your vehicle from the TOP and work your way DOWN.

3.) Dry with a clean and lubricated microfiber towel or a filtered air blower.

- Before you start wiping your car down with your microfiber towel, spray the towel with your favorite spray protection product, then spray the surface and THEN start to dry.
- This way you have lubrication when drying your vehicle so you reduce the potential of scratching it.

The sooner the ash is safely removed, the better. Protect your paint, avoid unnecessary scratches, and don’t let internet myths keep you from properly caring for your vehicle.

🧼 Rinseless Wash 💦

One of the biggest misconceptions in the detailing world is that a rinseless wash can be used on every vehicle, in every condition. That’s simply not true.

A rinseless wash is an incredible tool when used correctly.

✅ When is a rinseless wash appropriate?

* Light dust
* Pollen
* Fingerprints
* Fresh road film
* Vehicles protected with a quality wax, sealant, or ceramic coating that receive regular maintenance
* During winter months in your garage - means you don't have to wash in the freezing cold and setup your pressure washer or hose.

❌ When should you NOT use a rinseless wash?

* Heavy mud
* Thick layers of dirt or sand
* Off-road vehicles
* Excessive contamination that could be dragged across the paint

Knowing the difference is what separates proper paint care from accidentally inflicting scratches and swirl marks.

Here's why I enjoy rinseless washing:

✔️ : Uses only a fraction of the water compared to a traditional wash.
✔️ : Safe when performed with proper technique.
✔️ : Perfect for routine maintenance between more intensive washes.
✔️ : Great for garage detailing or areas with water restrictions.
✔️ : Faster than a traditional wash without sacrificing quality when the vehicle is only lightly soiled.

The key isn’t just the product—it’s the technique. Proper lubrication, quality microfiber towels, frequent towel changes, and understanding the condition of the paint all play a huge role in achieving a safe, swirl-free wash. Every vehicle tells you what it needs. Sometimes that’s a rinseless wash. Other times it needs a full foam pre-wash and traditional contact wash.

Known as the "50/50" in detailing - a photo that shows a before and after on a job.

The left side of this hood is what the majority of this little VW looked like. It was resprayed 5 years ago, and unfortunately paint degradation had already set in heavily.
Not to worry, I was elated for the challenge of "just make it better if you can." I love seeing these kind of transformations.

My client drove almost an hour and a half just for me to detail the interior of his beautiful Ford Raptor! 🤯 NOW THAT'S TRUST.

This stunning Ford Raptor has one of my favorite specification packages :

• Oxford White Exterior
• Interior Raptor Blue Accent Package

The alcanatara need some attention and reviving when it came to stain/mold removal. Nothing major, but still a tad finicky and time consuming process. From there I utilized a high-end conditioner for the plastic panels, dash, and other plastic surfaces. Not only protecting the plastic, but bringing that OEM look and feel.
To wrap everything up, I conditioned the alcantara and leather, deep cleaned the glass and did a cabin refreshment system throughout the HVAC system. ✨

Finished in Plum Crazy Purple (PHG), this is 1 of only 658 Dodge Chargers (R/T and SRT combined) produced in this legendary color for the 2014 model year. With less than 30,000 original miles, the pressure was on to deliver next-level results while preserving the integrity of this rare piece of Mopar history.

🫟 CAR PAINT FACT:

OEM factory paint is only so thick.

Every time a vehicle is machine polished, microscopic amounts of the clear coat are removed. That process is completely normal—but it has to be done wisely. Polish too aggressively or too many times, and you begin sacrificing the UV inhibitors built into the clear coat, increasing the risk of issues like:

• Oxidation
• Clear coat delamination
• Spider-webbing and premature paint failure

This Charger had already been compounded approximately three times within a single year.

That immediately changed my mindset.

Instead of asking…

“How much correction can I get?”

I asked…

“How can I maximize the finish while preserving as much of the remaining clear coat as possible?”

That’s the difference.

After an extensive wash, chemical and mechanical decontamination to safely remove dried compound residue, I carefully inspected every panel and developed a polishing strategy specific to this vehicle.

Then I put my headphones on.
I tuned out the world.
And I went to work.

THIS is where I love to be.
THIS is where years of experience, patience, and passion all come together.
