Do all raccoons have rabies?
No, all raccoons do not have rabies — but they are one of the most prolific species to spread the disease, in the United States. Rabies is a viral disease that can lie dormant for many weeks and months before it starts displaying symptoms. That means raccoons can be infected without there being obvious signs, and that you could come into contact with an infected animal without even realising. It is smart to assume that all raccoons have rabies until it can be proven otherwise.
