Most preservation boxes are made of cardboard.
Cardboard is acidic. It yellows fabric and breaks down over time.
We use a museum-quality polypropylene box. The only one in Ohio.
Your gown is wrapped in muslin and stored in an archival box built to last for generations.

Here is what happens when your gown comes to us.
We start with a consultation — fabric type, known stains, any details that need special attention.
Then your gown is cleaned using a process matched to the fabric. Not a standard dry clean. Each fabric requires a different approach.
After cleaning, it is wrapped in acid-free archival tissue and packed in a preservation box built to protect it long-term.
Every step is deliberate. That is what separates preservation from dry cleaning.

When you pick up your gown, here is what is actually inside the preservation box.
Your gown, wrapped in acid-free archival tissue. Not plastic. Not cardboard. Tissue that breathes and stays pH-neutral over time.
A muslin insert wrapped around the gown to protect delicate areas from direct contact.
Foam bust cups, stored separately so they do not press against the fabric and cause yellowing.
Cotton gloves so you can handle everything safely.
A polypropylene box that keeps light and moisture out without trapping humidity in. Closed, not sealed — so you can open it without destroying it. Almost every other company seals theirs shut.
This is not a dry cleaning bag with a fancy label. Every material was chosen specifically to protect fabric long-term.

When you pick up a dry cleaned dress, it goes back in a plastic bag. No acid-free tissue. No archival box. Nothing to stop yellowing or oxidation over time.
We are the only preservation company in Ohio using a museum-quality polypropylene box. Everyone else uses cardboard. Cardboard is acidic — over time it breaks down the very dress it is supposed to protect.
If you were told your dress was preserved by a dry cleaner, it is worth asking what that actually means.
