After the cold snap this weekend please check for leaks and if you are out of town and did not have your water shut off please have someone check on your property.

Thank you.

It's that time of year again!!

Temperatures will be dropping below zero this weekend (starting Saturday Jan. 18th).

Please check your crawlspaces and ensure that they are warm and dry enough. Give a quick check for any existing leaks or drips while you're down there.

If you have heat tape installed please ensure that it is functional and plugged in.

A little bit of prevention can save you an expensive plumbing repair and water bill.

As some of you have already noticed, there is a survey card arriving in your mailboxes. This is a legitimate survey request from the Water Office. It is a mandated inventory of all water lines dictated by the EPA and backed by our state agency. They are trying to locate and replace all lead service lines in the United States.

Please fill out the cards to the best of your knowledge and either put them back in the mail to go to the company helping us or drop them off at the Water Office as soon as you can.

If you help or have questions please contact us at the Water Office.

And remember, filling it out and returning it will get you entered in a drawing to win 6 months of free water (base rate, overages will still apply).

As put out on the last month's bill, our water rates will be increasing starting in June. You will see it on the bill that will arrive the first week of July. This increase is to both cover the increased operating cost due to inflation and to qualify us to receive state grant funding for water system improvements. According to the State of Montana, based on our current average income of the town, we do not pay enough for our water to even allow us to apply for grants.

The typical residential rate (3/4" meters) will increase to $56.00 for 4,000 gallons.
Those with one inch meters will increase to $100.23 for 7,000 gallons.
Those with two inch meters will increase to $399.39 for 28,000 gallons.

The Overage usage will NOT change and will remain at $2.63 / 1000 gallons.

Additionally, our late fees are going up from $5 to $10. This will put us closer in line with what other utilities currently charge for their late fees.

With the cold the last few days we have had a larger than usual number of freeze ups. Please keep an eye on your plumbing under your houses for leaks.

When thawing your plumbing after a freeze up do so gradually as rapidly heating frozen pipes could cause leaks from ruptures or joints popping loose.

11/04/2022

We have been fielding a large number of calls lately for sewer issues.

Despite our name we do not deal with the sewer. The County has control over that portion and has hired a Company called Curb Box Specialists who are temporarily handling the sewer.

They can be reached at (406)652-5523 (Spencer Stone).

It is that time of year again. As the temperatures drop please take extra care to watch your home's water lines for freeze ups and leaks.

If you have a sprinkler system I highly recommend you get them winterized as well.

If your property is going to be vacant please ensure that it is winterized and check in on it from time to time.

If need be please contact the Water Office to arrange a shutoff at the curbstop to prevent the possibility of damage inside the house.

Just an update

We had a break in one of our main water lines due to a contractor boring through it with a drill. The damaged line was isolated and the rest of the system was protected from any possible contamination.

I repeat, there was no contamination of the rest of the water system. Three homes were on the damaged line and those homes regained water system use earlier this afternoon after the repair and sanitation was completed.

You may continue to use water as normal. Thank you again for your patience and we apologize for any inconvenience that may have been caused.
