The body and chassis are finally united forever 😊

There are still plenty of small details left to attach to the lower part of the model, but this is already the final stage of assembly.

A quick reminder: this is another batch of seven pieces from the limited-edition 1:43 scale 𝟭𝟵𝟬𝟱 𝗖𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗰 𝗢𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗼𝗹𝗮 model produced by 𝗩𝗗𝗠 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀. Work on these models was paused because of russia’s full-scale inv@si0n of Ukraine, and has now finally resumed.

Попереду ще чимало дрібних деталей, які потрібно встановити на нижню частину моделі, але це вже фінальна стадія збирання.

Нагадаю, що йдеться про чергову партію із семи екземплярів лімітованої серії моделі 1905 Cadillac Osceola у масштабі 1:43 виробництва VDM Models. Робота над моделями була призупинена через повномасштабне вторгнення росії в Україну, а тепер нарешті відновлена.

After a long break, I finally got back to assemblibg the Cadillac Osceola. The rather tricky process of fitting and gluing the windows is now complete, and the bodies are ready to be mounted onto the chassis. But the chassis haven’t been idle either — they’ve been getting ready for the reunion. The radiator grilles and their surrounds are already in place.

Після тривалої перерви я нарешті поновив збирання Cadillac Osceola. Доволі складна операція вклеювання скла завершена і корпуси моделей готові до з'єднання з шасі. Але шасі теж не гаяли часу, готувалися до зустрічі Решітки радіатора та його обрамлення вже на місці.

You probably noticed from the lack of posts on the page that there has been a pause in the assembly of the Cadillac Osceola. This is not due to technical difficulties, but rather to a lack of time and good mood. Such things cannot be done without inspiration, and I will continue the assembly a little later. And now I'd like to show you a screenshot of my new development, which confirms that model creation continues!

Мабуть ви помітили з відсутності публікацій на сторінці, що в збиранні Кадилак Оцеола виникла пауза. Це не пов'язано з технічними труднощами, скоріше, з браком часу та гарного настрою. Я вважаю, що такі речі не можна робити без наснаги і обов'язково продовжу збирання трохи пізніше. А зараз хочу показати скрін моєї нової розробки, який підтверджує, що створення моделей не припиняється!

Another feature of the 𝟭/𝟰𝟯 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝟭𝟵𝟬𝟱 𝗖𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗰 𝗢𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗼𝗹𝗮 that is difficult to see in the finished model 😊 The rubber shock absorbers on the rear axle are fabricated in miniature and finished in matte black paint.

While developing a drawing of a car from the beginning of the 20th century, I encountered an unexpected problem. The engine and flywheel did not fit into the gearbox and other transmission components. I had the frame's dimensions, a photo of the car, and drawings of the engine and gearbox. So I was sure that I was doing everything right, placing the units in a horizontal plane. But there was a gap between the engine shaft and the gearbox. The problem was solved by a chassis photo, which the car's owner kindly sent me. The engine is arranged at an angle to the horizon in the picture! It turns out that on many cars of the early 20th century, the engine was installed with an inclination back to lower the rear axle and, accordingly, lower the body height. Did you know about this?

ПІд час розробки креслення автівки початку XX століття я зіштовхнувся з несподіваною проблемою. Двигун з маховиком ніяк не стикувалися з коробкою передач та іншими елементами трансмісії. Я мав розміри рами та світлини автівки, креслення двигуна та коробки передач. Тож я був впевнений, що роблю все вірно, розміщуючи агрегати в горизонтальній площині. Але між валом двигуна та коробкою передач залишалася сходинка. Вирішити проблему допомогла світлина шасі, яку мені люб'язно надіслав володар відповідної автівки. На світлині видно, що двигун встановлений під кутом до горизонту! Виявляється, на багатьох автівках початку XX століття двигун був встановлений з нахилом назад для опускання задньої осі та, відповідно, зниження висоти кузову. А ви знали про це?

After painting the engine, it was time to glue the two parts of the rear axle together. They are soldered to the frame, springs, radius rods, and stretch marks.

Після фарбування двигуна настав час склеювання двох частин заднього мосту. Вони спаяні з рамою, ресорами, поздовжніми тягами та розтяжками.
