Hyundai Rotem has revealed South Korea's next-gen battle tank concept for the Republic of Korea (ROK) โ the hydrogen-powered K3. this tank will replace the K-seriesโ diesel engines with hydrogen fuel cells, aiming for production by 2040 as the world's first of its kind.
the K3 combines hybrid hydrogen-diesel engines in its initial prototypes and boasts significant upgrades. It features stealth enhancements, autonomous driving, drone integration, and a powerful 130-mm smoothbore gun controlled by AI for precise, preemptive strikes.
A three-person crew โ driver, commander, and gunner โ operates from a fortified front capsule. The K3 features an unmanned turret with a remote-controlled 130mm cannon (5 km range) and supports multi-purpose anti-tank missiles and a remote weapon station for added firepower.
The K3's defenses include infrared countermeasures, active protection, and drone jamming, with a low-profile, radar-reduced design to stay hidden on the battlefield.
